Omas writes for Maserati
An exclusive partnership joining Bologna to Modena has spurred the development of a prestigious range of pens created by Omas with the collaboration of Maserati. The Omas for Maserati pens and the commemorative Boyle Special fountain pen skilfully combine the craftsmanship and elegance expressed by the two brands.
Already available through Omas authorised dealers, the pens can be purchased online at www.maseratistore.com only in the month of July.
Limited to a total of 1,914 pens - 1,200 of which fountain and 714 roller ball - the Omas for Maserati range, made of Sterling Silver, celebrates Maserati's founding year 1914 and the style of its cars. Maserati's legendary grille is set on the top of an aerodynamically shaped cap, strongly suggestive of the streamline shape of the GranTurismo. The tapered, shiny clip looks like it was modelled in a wind tunnel. The Maserati logo is engraved on the shiny nib holder, also made of silver. The nib is made of 18k rhodium-plated gold. Side vents engraved on the sides of the cap are reminiscent of a typical stylistic element that dates back to 1947 - when Maserati presented, at the Geneva Motor Show, its first road car, the A6 1500 Gran Turismo, with body designed by Pinin Farina. A harmony of shapes and design for the celebration of Italian creativity.
Further to the success of the Omas for Maserati range, the Boyle Special fountain pen was created to commemorate the seventieth anniversary of the first Maserati win at the Indianapolis 500, caught by Wilbur Shaw on a Maserati 8 CTF. The car was dubbed the Boyle Special, in honour of the American sponsor who funded the transatlantic expedition. The only Italian car manufacturer to win the prestigious American race twice in a row, Maserati remains one of the few Europeans to have ever succeeded in the achievement to this day.
Also made of Sterling Silver, the Boyle Special fountain pen exactly recreates the particular body colour of the 8CTF, embellished with ruthenium accents, and recalls the style that characterised the legendary model: badges finely engraved on the barrel, on the nib holder and on the ring of the cap, a 18k ruthenium treated gold nib and number 1 engraved on the cap. The Boyle Special pen is sold in a prestigious case with an exclusive, limited edition Maserati 8 CTF Boyle Special collectable model.
