Maserati's sporting activities continues in 2011 with the single-make Trophy

World champion Maserati celebrated its world title won by Andrea Bertolini behind the wheel of the MC12 in 2010 and announced its 2011 sporting programmes at Maestro Luciano Pavarotti's villa in Modena.

Modena, 18th February 2011 - World champion Maserati celebrated its world title won by Andrea Bertolini behind the wheel of the MC12 in 2010 and announced its 2011 sporting programmes at Maestro Luciano Pavarotti's villa in Modena.

From 2005 until today, the MC12 has won the FIA GT1 championship Manufacturers Cup twice, the Drivers title five times, the Teams title six times, the Citation Cup once and has made its mark three times in the legendary Spa 24 Hours.

With 22 victories in championship races, the MC12 is the Maserati that has seized the highest number of wins in title races in Maserati's history. Not even the 250F that won the F1 world title in 1957 with Juan Manuel Fangio achieved so much.

Now, after taking the 2010 world title, the MC12 passes the baton to the GranTurismo MC Trofeo, which in 2011 will take up the leading role in the second year of the Trofeo Maserati, the single-make championship that the Modena car maker organises for its gentleman drivers.

The 2011 Maserati Trophy will be composed of eight races on eight circuits, and will cross the European borders for the first time, with a race slated in Marrakech.
