Alex Müller and Miguel Ramos's MC12 will roar away from the pole position tomorrow at the Budapest City Challenge race held at the Hungaroring racetrack. The fastest driver during this morning's free practices, Alex Müller clocked in at 1:41.815, marked while running his third lap. This is the third consecutive pole position for the German driver, while it will be the fourth time this season a Maserati MC12 will start off in front of everybody else.
Displaying the colors of Vitaphone Racing Team DHL, Pier Guidi/Bobbi's MC12 got an excellent fourth place. Alessandro Pier Guidi, in charge of the qualifying practices, will start off from the second row after clocking in at 1:42.575 marked as he started his third lap, almost when the 15 minutes were up.
Reigning champions Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels secured a good sixth place. The Italian driver obtained his best time (1:43.035) at his first lap, when the track was still not in the best of conditions, and was then slowed down by traffic that prevented him from improving his performance.
Run on a dry track just barely affected by light drizzle, the session in this circuit is important as it is very difficult to overtake other cars. The two-hour race will take place tomorrow at 1.15 pm local time.
Alex Müller: "I am very happy about this pole position; the car has proven its mettle. We worked hard for the qualifying practices set-up because on this particular track the chances of overtaking other vehicles are very low and so it is important to start off in pole position. We are confident about the race tomorrow because I believe we have a very reliable car where passing is concerned".
