Vauxhall has made a strong start to 2026, posting month-to-month and year-on-year increases across combined car and van vehicle sales, finishing fourth in the market and boosting its total market share to 5.8%, according to the latest new vehicle registration figures published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

This success has been fuelled by the continued popularity of Vauxhall’s extensive passenger car and van range. The Corsa continues to be a key driver of Vauxhall’s strong positioning in the car market by not only being the UK’s best-selling small car in January 2026, but also with 35,976 units sold in 2025.

In total, Vauxhall saw a 1.8% rise in cars sold year-on-year in January, with a total of 7,218 registrations. This includes New Frontera, which has made a charge since its launch, claiming its position as the second most-sold model in the compact electric SUV segment.

In the van market, Vauxhall has seen significant gains with a 28% year-on-year increase in registrations, resulting in a market share boost from 8.1% to 12.1% and Vauxhall finishing second in the market. Popular and practical models have powered this increase, with the Vauxhall Combo claiming top spot as the UK’s best-selling small van in January.

Eurig Druce, Vauxhall Managing Director & Stellantis UK Group Managing Director, said: “We’re seeing good growth across both car and van markets, resulting in Vauxhall claiming two UK best-selling vehicles. Corsa and Combo are staples in the UK market, consistently topping the sales charts, but we’re pleased to see the new Frontera has quickly resonated with customers looking for a sharply designed and great value family car. These early achievements demonstrate positive momentum for the year ahead as demand for Vauxhall’s accessible and practical vehicles continues to grow.”

ABOUT VAUXHALL MOTORS

Vauxhall Motors started making cars in the UK in 1903. Today, as the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, its philosophy is to build vehicles that are relevant to all and offer design, high levels of equipment and technology, and electrification at an attainable level. Vauxhall is one of few automotive brands to produce electric vehicles in Britain at its manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port – the UK’s first electric-only manufacturing plant where the Combo Electric van is made. Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign raises the profile of the need for more on-street electric vehicle charging so that everyone can benefit from the switch to electric. Vauxhall is part of Stellantis NV, a global leader created for the new era of sustainable mobility as a result of the merger between Groupe PSA and FCA Group in January 2021. Vauxhall is a leader in electrification – as of 2021, it was one of the first manufacturers to offer fully electric versions of all its vans. Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. Info: www.vauxhall.co.uk
