The new Vauxhall Frontera has been awarded ‘Value Car of the Year’ at the News UK Motor Awards 2025.
Now in its eighth year, the News UK Motor Awards celebrate the best new vehicles across a wide range of segments, from family SUVs and city cars to luxury and performance models. The judging panel includes leading automotive journalists from News UK titles, such as The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times Magazine, and LUXX Magazine.
The judges praised the new Frontera for delivering exceptional value for money, combining practicality, style and electrification in an affordable package. The Frontera is available with a choice of fully electric and hybrid powertrains, supporting Vauxhall’s commitment to make electric mobility accessible to all.
Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, said: “Vauxhall has flipped the switch with Frontera Electric. Normally, the price difference between petrol and electric is about 30 per cent. Batteries aren’t cheap. But Frontera Electric is actually £2k cheaper than a petrol Frontera at £22k. Finance from £144 a month. To us, value means offering more for your money than you’d expect, and Frontera delivers that in spades.”
Steve Catlin, Vauxhall Managing Director, said: “The new Frontera perfectly illustrates our commitment to electrifying Britain. Frontera led the way as the first car in the UK to be available in electric and petrol-hybrid guise with an identical list price for both, and now goes even further with the Frontera Electric starting at a lower price than its hybrid equivalent. With a generous specification, spacious interior and rugged design, it’s gratifying to see it recognised as the best value car of 2025.”
The Frontera already set a new benchmark for accessible electrification from launch with identical pricing for the electric and hybrid versions. Following the introduction of the Electric Car Grant, the new Frontera Electric now starts from just £22,495 OTR, which is less than the hybrid equivalent. Vauxhall has removed the traditional price premium associated with EVs and made the switch to electric easier than ever.
Vauxhall recently expanded the Frontera model line-up with the introduction of the range-topping Ultimate trim, sitting above the Design and GS. This adds a range of features, enhancing comfort and practicality, including heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heated windscreen, LED fog lamps and roof rails with a 240kg load capacity.

ABOUT VAUXHALL MOTORS
Vauxhall Motors started making cars in the UK in 1903. Today, as the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, its philosophy is to build vehicles that are relevant to all and offer design, high levels of equipment and technology, and electrification at an attainable level. Vauxhall is one of few automotive brands to produce electric vehicles in Britain at its manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port – the UK’s first electric-only manufacturing plant where the Combo Electric van is made. Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign raises the profile of the need for more on-street electric vehicle charging so that everyone can benefit from the switch to electric. Find out more at www.electricstreets.co.uk
Vauxhall is part of Stellantis NV, a global leader created for the new era of sustainable mobility as a result of the merger between Groupe PSA and FCA Group in January 2021. Vauxhall is a leader in electrification – as of 2021, it was one of the first manufacturers to offer fully electric versions of all its vans. Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. Info: www.vauxhall.co.uk
