The All-New Vauxhall Astra Electric has been named ‘Medium Electric Car of the Year’ at the 2024 Company Car & Van Awards.

Company Car & Van judges praised the All-New Astra Electric for its design, handling and efficient electric powertrain. Powered by Vauxhall’s next-generation 54kWh battery and a 156hp electric motor, the All-New Astra Electric achieves impressive efficiency of 4.2 miles per kWh, providing up to 258 miles of range (WLTP). Meanwhile, the battery’s compact size means the All-New Astra Electric weighs only 58kg more than the Plug-in Hybrid version, benefiting efficiency and handling.

Andrew Walker, Editor & Publisher, Company Car & Van, said: “In our opinion, thanks to its traditional looks both inside & out, the Astra Electric has a better chance than many competitors of getting Joe Public into an EV, which is why it's our Medium Electric Car of the Year. It does everything well without doing anything badly. Both the powertrain & efficiency figures are competitive against its rivals & the smallish 54kWh battery means it handles extremely well. We also love the cabin which is both stylish & practical.”

James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “We are thrilled the All-New Astra Electric has been named ‘Medium Electric Car of the Year’ at the 2024 Company Car & Van Awards. This is just one of several awards the Astra Electric has already received, as it continues to win praise from experts for its efficient electric powertrain, striking design and practicality  – proof that it’s the ideal choice for customers looking to make the switch to electric.”

With zero-emissions-in-use, the All-New Astra Electric qualifies for a Benefit-in-Kind rate of just 2% (2023/24), making it particularly well suited to both fleet and business users. The arrival of the All-New Astra Sports Tourer Electric, one of a small number of electric estate cars available on the market, means Vauxhall now offers six fully electric passenger vehicles and will offer a fully electric version of every model from 2024.
