Vauxhall has revealed the Frontera GRAVEL – an ultra-rugged show car version of the production Frontera Electric which demonstrates what a more adventure-ready variant of the family-friendly SUV could look like.

The new Vauxhall Frontera is already a vehicle equipped to take on daily adventures thanks to its robust design, flexible interior space, and electrified powertrains.

However, the Vauxhall Frontera GRAVEL takes the family-friendly SUV beyond the road to epic all-terrain expeditions with an adventure-ready concept designed by Vauxhall and built in collaboration with motorsport tuning partners BlackFish and XS.

The rougher and tougher Frontera GRAVEL strikes an imposing presence from its bonnet to bumper with even more rugged bodywork, bold graphic decals, and mounted expedition accessory features.

Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President Marketing of Opel and Vauxhall, said: “The new Vauxhall Frontera is already a standout vehicle. It is rugged, practical, and perfect for families and everyday adventures. But with the Frontera GRAVEL show car, we’ve pushed the limits, imagining a tougher, more daring, trailblazing version. This concept is built to fire up our fanbase and test the demand for a bolder, more rugged Frontera in the future. It’s all about freedom, adventure, excitement and pushing boundaries.”

New adventures call with the Frontera GRAVEL show car

The Frontera GRAVEL is built on the all-electric production model of the new Frontera, allowing for locally emissions-free driving and thus ideally suited for nature drives. Its low centre of gravity and strong torque make it perfectly suited for soft roading adventures. To match the tougher challenges of rougher gravel and stone surfaces, the Frontera GRAVEL stands on special, 7x16-inch CWE wheels from BORBET.

On the exterior, its distinctive colourway and wrap evoke a sense of adventure and exploration. The matte black roof and bonnet contrast with the special ‘Desert stone’ wrap, uniquely selected for the Frontera GRAVEL. For greater visibility offroad, additional orange accents on the exterior mirror housings, front and rear bumpers, spoiler and the Griffin logo in the black Vauxhall Vizor complete the bold and eye-catching look.

The rugged look is further enhanced by a front-mounted winch and hook, side storage boxes at the rear, and a robust lattice-style roof rack designed to maximise gear-carrying capacity for all adventures. Additional exterior spotlights are mounted on the Thule Canyon XT carrier and the bonnet, providing excellent visibility for night-time driving over rough terrain.

Its rugged refinement continues seamlessly in the interior where the XS specialists have introduced bold design touches. The driver and front passenger will be able to enjoy the same comfortable seats as the standard Frontera but for the GRAVEL they come with bright orange highlights, while the headliner is completely black.

All those who want to be among the first to see the Vauxhall Frontera GRAVEL live will be able to do so at the XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee, which takes place from May 28 to June 1 in Klagenfurt, Austria. Vauxhall, Opel and the XS team will present the stunning show car to the general public for the first time on Friday May 30, in the Opel Hall at the Klagenfurt Trade Fair. Tickets for the event are still available here.
