New Vauxhall
Vauxhall is the only British brand within Stellantis and has recently refreshed its entire line-up with a bold and pure design language. Its vehicle range now includes a fully electric version of every car and van model, as well as a hybrid version across its passenger car lineup.
The Experimental Concept, revealed in August 2023, showcased the future of Vauxhall design, including the 3D Vizor with the illuminated Griffin logo that sits proudly at the centre of the signature Vauxhall Compass, the guiding element of Vauxhall’s design philosophy. This fascia is now present on every model and is widely recognised as a key characteristic of the brand.

Vauxhall is also looking towards a sportier future, which was previewed by the unveiling of the Corsa Vision GSE Gran Turismo electric concept in August 2025, which showcased boundary-pushing design and engineering. Created to embody the essence of Vauxhall’s GSE performance sub-brand, it gives an idea of what to expect from forthcoming production models – led by the recently unveiled Mokka GSE, the brand’s fastest model to date, which can dispatch 0-62mph in a thrilling 5.9 seconds.

A major element of Vauxhall’s evolution has been its commitment to making the buying experience more straightforward for customers by simplifying its product choice. The brand has reduced the number of model derivatives it offers to just 105 as of October 2025 – a decrease of around 71% since 2021 – making it significantly easier for customers to explore the range. The Frontera is available in Design, GS and Ultimate trim levels.
The Frontera also showcases Vauxhall’s new PureTechnology framework, made up of Vauxhall PureEnergy, Vauxhall PureSense, and Vauxhall PureConnect. Together, these offer customers the very best in electrification and efficiency, intelligent technology, and safety, as well as intuitive connectivity and entertainment.
Electric Streets
40% of British households do not have access to a driveway1, while the data shows that more than 80% of electric vehicle charging is carried out at home2, making many drivers across the country reliant on public charging infrastructure.
Vauxhall launched Electric Streets of Britain in summer 2023 to support the millions of drivers across the UK who don’t have access to off-street parking, with a focus on increasing the number of accessible residential on-street charge points, so nobody is left behind in the transition to electric mobility.

In collaboration with leading charge point operators, char.gy, Connected Kerb and SureCharge, Vauxhall set up a new national database at www.electricstreets.co.uk to create a nationwide overview of where charging is required most. Vauxhall invites all drivers, whether they own a Vauxhall or not, to register the need for on-street charging near them.
Vauxhall’s on-street charging demand map, found at electricstreets.co.uk, highlights the areas where infrastructure demand is highest. Since launching in August 2023, over 12,500 streets across the UK have been registered for needing on-street electric vehicle charging via the Electric Streets of Britain campaign.
New research from Vauxhall and CENEX3 shows that 22.9% of British households that need electric vehicle infrastructure are now within a four-minute walk of a charge point, compared to 19.6% of households in 2024. This rise of 3.3% means that 300,000 more households have access to a charge point, compared to August 2024, with infrastructure supply estimated to be one and a half years ahead of demand.
However, latest research by Vauxhall3 also highlights that work is still needed on a national level to provide sufficient infrastructure, with 243 councils across Great Britain having low coverage of accessible chargers compared to the number of electric vehicles in the area.

Through the Electric Streets of Britain, Vauxhall is continuing to highlight the importance of accessible charging. In Summer 2025, Vauxhall collaborated with leading property experts, Zoopla, to provide features across its web and app services to help drivers looking for a new home find properties with accessible charging.
Whether you drive a Vauxhall or not, Electric Streets of Britain was created to support anyone wanting to drive an EV, welcoming drivers across the country to register their charging needs.

Electrification
Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. The entire Vauxhall electric car range qualifies for the new UK Government Electric Car Grant (ECG), saving customers £1,500 off the list price. All Vauxhall electric cars are also priced below the £40,000 threshold for the Expensive Car Supplement, resulting in significant savings in road tax (VED).
In addition, there is also a hybrid version of every car model, meaning a complete choice for customers on their journey to electrification.

Vauxhall is also one of the only manufacturers in the UK able to offer businesses a fully electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) across its model range. The award-winning Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric, and Movano Electric cater for fleets and businesses looking for capable, zero-emissions-in-use vehicles that help reduce overheads and running costs. Vauxhall has sold more electric vans in the UK than any other manufacturer, with more than 17,000 on the road.

As part of the ongoing move to electrification, Vauxhall’s parent Stellantis invested over £100 million to transform Ellesmere Port into the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing plant and the group’s first plant globally dedicated to EV production, with the ambition of its manufacturing being carbon neutral by the end of the decade. Production officially commenced on 7th September 2023, with the Vauxhall Combo Electric among the first models to roll of the production line. An additional £50 million investment was confirmed in November 2024 to bring production of the Vivaro Electric and other Stellantis mid-size vans to Ellesmere Port, underscoring the company’s desire to establish the facility as the United Kingdom’s LCV hub, and supporting its ambition to become the No.1 LCV manufacturer globally.

Design
Vauxhall’s Bold and Pure design philosophy is now firmly established, and the Frontera constitutes the most rugged interpretation of it yet. There’s no mistaking it’s a Vauxhall thanks to the now highly recognisable Vizor front end, which seamlessly integrates the Griffin logo and the Intelli-LED headlamps, with their familiar wing signature, here with a new twist in the form of three distinct blocks.

Despite its clear resemblance to the rest of the family, the Frontera stands out thanks to its upright front silhouette and unique proportions – the result of occupying a similar footprint to the Astra. At 4,385mm, it’s longer than the Mokka (4,151mm) and shorter than the New Grandland (4,650mm), and the result is an SUV that’s perfectly at home on city streets but makes a statement with a tough, but modern, look.
As Mark Adams, Vauxhall Vice President, Design, explained: “Solidity and strength are what define the design of the Frontera – while still keeping it light and agile. My team decided on a deep Vizor to give it a feeling of substance, while we used an automatic high beam in the ECO LED headlights.” This automatically avoids glaring traffic in front or oncoming traffic. Continued Adams: “I am especially proud of the upright front end giving the Frontera its distinct, expressive look.”

The side view, meanwhile, reveals a distinctive C-pillar – a nod to the original Frontera of the 1990s, which visually splits the spacious cabin. Elsewhere, pronounced wheel arches continue the feeling of solidity, while a contrast roof (on some models) adds more character. There’s no chrome either, which not only enhances the feeling of robustness, but also burnishes the sustainability credentials of a car that consists of up to 95% reusable materials and is 85% recyclable. Adams went on: “The prominent wheel arches and sills give it a contemporary appearance while the elevated cabin keeps the car light and state-of-the-art.”
The feeling of solidity is again reinforced at the rear by its upright nature and bold Frontera lettering. At the same time, a new interpretation of the light signature – three blocks split by a slender section of the body in the middle – adds freshness.
Of course, individual specifications come with their own features and detailing. Design models offer 16-inch black steel wheels with wheel arch cladding, a silver Griffin logo, body-coloured roof and bumpers, plus black wing mirrors and skid plates. Customers can also choose the optional Design styling pack on both electric and hybrid versions, which comprises 16-inch white steel wheels, a white roof and roof rails.

GS adds to this with 17-inch Groot diamond-cut alloy wheels, a black roof, high-gloss black wing mirrors, a black Griffin logo, dark silver skid plates, tinted rear windows and LED taillights. Ultimate, meanwhile, is differentiated by high gloss black roof rails – with a 240kg load capacity – and LED front foglamps.

The Extended Range Electric variant also receives some adornments to improve its efficiency, including AAA-rated eco tyres, fins added to the rear spoiler and additions to the lower bumper area for improved aero flow, as well as the inclusion of 17-inch Ben Solo alloys on the GS and Ultimate versions.
Whichever model buyers opt for, they will be getting a thoroughly distinctive SUV that Adams is rightly proud of. “I am happy with what our team achieved here – designing this SUV that is perfect for everyday use and that can adapt to different lifestyles while being rooted in our strong design foundation,” he concluded.
Interior
The Frontera continues Vauxhall’s pursuit of offering a detoxed, uncluttered, contemporary look with its interior design that perfectly complements the exterior styling. However, given the positioning of the car, there was an added focus on a number of key elements, in particular space, versatility and family-friendliness.

The Pure Panel cockpit, with its 10-inch centrally mounted infotainment screen and fully digital 10-inch driver display, will be familiar from other models, but the use of physical buttons for some key functions in the Frontera enhances the ease of use, delivering a stress-free experience for drivers. A newly designed three-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel also catches the eye, but the overriding feeling is the sense of space, aided by wide, horizontal decors on the instrument panel and doors, which visually extend a cabin that already feels airy.

Indeed, the space and versatility on offer is reflected by the fact that the Frontera comes with the option of a third row of seats on GS and Ultimate hybrid versions, giving capacity for seven – in doing so making it the most compact seven-seater on the market. Two-way adjustable headrests and a ‘fold and tumble’ seat mechanism provide easy access to the third row when fitted.
The focus on practicality is also underlined elsewhere. An array of compartments offers interior storage of up to 23 litres, while 60:40 split second-row seats and a two-level boot floor mean that despite the Frontera having a similar footprint to an Astra hatchback, it offers a larger boot capacity with the rear seats folded than an Astra Sports Tourer Electric (1,553 litres) at 1,600 litres. With the rear seats up, the boot capacity is 460 litres.
There’s more than sheer capacity on offer, too. The practical square and high boot shape (939mm wide and 733mm tall) makes loading large items, (e.g. a washing machine) possible, while this capability is also aided by a low loading sill of 77cm. The availability of roof rails with 240kg capacity enhances the Frontera’s load-carrying credentials further.

There are plenty of other thoughtful touches, including wide opening doors that make access easy, as well as a centre console with a flexible strap that holds larger devices which would normally not fit into the cabin properly – such as tablets – safely in place.
Rubber lining to storage areas prevents annoying rattling and sliding, while there are integrated smartphone pockets in the backrests of the front seats for second-row passengers.
Of course, comfort is important too, and this is emphasised by the patented Intelli-Seat feature in the front seats – a slot that relieves the pressure on the tailbone – which ensures long journeys can be easily completed with no aches and pains, because body weight is evenly distributed.
In addition, not only are the seats richly crafted and sculpted, but contrast stitching adds to the aesthetic appeal. The seat fabrics are also available in recycled material, and Vauxhall’s commitment to sustainability is reinforced by the availability of vegan leather on the steering wheel and door panels that feature recycled content.

Of course, each specification comes with its own selection of interior features. Generously equipped Design has standard air-con, grey cloth seats with Fabric Riaz Blue and Anthracite Melange and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, while GS delivers electronic climate control, a leather effect steering wheel and the Intelli-Seat feature, plus multi-adjustable driver and passenger seats. Ultimate takes things further with heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
As Mark Adams, Vauxhall Vice President, Design, summed up: “The Frontera sports a modern appearance in the interior. Designed for everyday use, it gives our customers the opportunity to use the car in the way that fits their lifestyle. From the comfortable Intelli-Seats, numerous practical features to 460 litres of boot volume, Frontera drivers can ensure their next journey is an energising one.”
PureConnect: Advanced convenience
PureConnect is Vauxhall’s suite of intuitive technology that ensures Frontera occupants stay connected to everything that matters in their world, thanks to an array of features.
Every Frontera features wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for seamless smartphone connectivity, while wireless charging on all models means keeping devices topped up is straightforward. In addition, there are two USB ports available in the front and a further two USB ports in the second row. If the Frontera is ordered with seven seats, an additional USB-C port is added in the third row.
The central colour touchscreen can be easily operated using widgets like on a smartphone. Satellite navigation is included as standard, while a simple “Hey Vauxhall” is enough to activate the natural voice recognition. Both the infotainment screen and the driver information display can also be personalised, while a rear-view camera on all models makes parking easy.

Frontera customers can also benefit from a range of services offered through Vauxhall Connect. The Connect One package is provided free of charge for ten years and features over-the-air updates, vehicle maintenance alerts and an SOS service, which will automatically alert emergency services in the event of a breakdown or accident.
Alternatively, there’s a free six-month trial to the Connect Plus subscription service, which features more advanced remote management and vehicle assistance aids, including trip reports, a ‘find my car’ facility, ChatGPT and the ability to send routes from the MyVauxhall app to the car.
PureSense
PureSense is Vauxhall’s smart driver assistance technology that provides heightened awareness on the road to make journeys safer. Highlights on the Frontera include:
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection: The Frontera monitors traffic ahead using a front camera. If it senses a collision is imminent, the driver is warned through a series of visual and audible alerts. Should they not react quickly enough, the brakes are automatically deployed to avoid or mitigate the impact of a front-end collision.
- Lane keep assist: This camera-based system monitors the edges of the road ahead and lane markings. If the vehicle approaches the edge or a marking, a gentle steering wheel input accurately places the Frontera back in the centre of the lane.
- Speed sign recognition: Camera technology in the Frontera reads speed limit signs as the vehicle passes them. The current limit is shown on the digital instrument display.
- Driver drowsiness alert: Monitoring steering input, the driver drowsiness system helps prevent accidents by detecting fatigue and alerting the driver to take a break.
- Parking sensors: Sensors help the Frontera with parking and reversing, giving an audible signal as the vehicle gets closer to objects. Design models come with sensors at the rear; GS and Ultimate variants add them at the front, too.
- Rear view camera: This enhances safety by providing drivers with a view of the area around the rear of the Frontera, alerting them to any potential danger.
- Hill start assist: Prevents unwanted movement when driving away on inclines by keeping brakes on for slightly longer when pulling off.
- Forward collision alert: Helps to avoid or reduce the impact of front-end collisions by monitoring the road ahead and alerting the driver when a vehicle is being approached too quickly.
- Blind spot alert: Assists in avoiding crashes due to unintentional lane departures when an object or vehicle is detected in a specified blind spot zone by displaying an alert in the exterior mirror.
- Cruise control with speed limiter: Using steering wheel controls, drivers can engage cruise control, which automatically maintains vehicle speed without throttle input. The system can be cancelled via the steering wheel controls or by pressing on the brake.
PureEnergy: Exciting and efficient powertrains
PureEnergy reflects Vauxhall’s commitment to offer exciting and efficient electrified powertrains – and this is perfectly embodied in the Frontera, which offers cutting-edge electric and hybrid models.
Frontera Electric: A true trailblazer
The Frontera Electric is breaking new ground in more ways than one. Not only is it making electrification available to all via a pioneering strategy that means its starting price is less than that of its hybrid equivalent, it’s also the first Vauxhall to be based on Stellantis’ Smart Car platform – created specifically for pure electric vehicles.
Two batteries are available. Customers are offered the choice of a 44kWh unit or the 54kWh Extended Range variant, with the latter increasing driving range by an additional 67 miles to 253 miles (WLTP) over the standard Frontera Electric. The electric motor produces 113PS and 125Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 13 seconds and an 88mph top speed.
The enhanced efficiency is aided by tweaks including the fitting of AAA-rated eco tyres, the addition of fins to the rear spoiler and improved airflow on the lower rear bumper, as well as a different alloy wheel design (on GS and Ultimate models).
With 100kW DC rapid charging capability, a 20-80% top-up can be completed in around 28 minutes. An 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, enabling a 20-80% charge in 3 hours 25 minutes from an 11kW AC public charge point. A 20-80% charge from a 7kW home charger takes 5 hours 5 minutes, meaning it’s possible to benefit from cheaper off-peak energy timeslots.
Alternatively, the 44kWh Frontera Electric comes with a range of up to 186 miles (WLTP). As in the Extended Range, the electric motor produces 113PS and 125Nm of torque, allowing this version to accelerate from 0-62mph in 12.8 seconds.
Explaining the company’s strategy, Managing Director Steve Catlin said: “Vauxhall is committed to making EVs accessible to its customers, and with the introduction of the Frontera Electric Extended Range, it brings even more choice, freedom and adventure to the Frontera line-up. Frontera Electric broke new ground by being the first car in the UK to offer price parity with the petrol-hybrid version, and Vauxhall continues to lead the way in democratising access to electric vehicles.”

Whichever model is chosen, buyers will relish how easy the Frontera Electric is to drive. A single-speed electronic drive selector lets the driver choose between Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Comfort (for reduced regenerative braking), while three different driving modes are offered via a switch positioned adjacent to the selector.
- Sport delivers a dynamic drive with a responsive throttle and the highest maximum power and torque.
- Normal provides a balanced drive that offers the ideal compromise between performance and efficiency.
- ECO is the mode for maximum range and efficiency. This deactivates all unnecessary energy-consuming features and reduces the top speed.
Frontera Hybrid: The best of both worlds
For customers not yet ready for the switch to full electrification, Vauxhall offers the Frontera Hybrid with 48-volt technology. The compact system combines a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 21kW (28PS) electric motor with 55Nm of torque, which is mated to a clever and cost-effective electrified six-speed dual clutch transmission. The standard version produces 81kW (110PS) and 205Nm of torque, while a 107kW (145PS) version with 230Nm of torque is also available.
When accelerating and starting from a standstill, the electric motor supports the petrol engine with a boost to power and torque. And at speeds under 18mph, it also enables fully electric driving for up to one kilometre at a time, or up to 50 per cent of the time in the city, for example, when manoeuvring.

During deceleration from higher speeds, meanwhile, the petrol engine stops and the e-motor acts as a generator to recharge the hybrid system’s 48-volt battery. As with the Frontera Electric, Sport, Normal and Eco driving modes are available.
48-volt tech offers clear benefits when it comes to efficiency compared with a combustion vehicle. In everyday driving in the city and on country roads, the petrol engine and the electric motor work together or separately, depending on requirements – always in harmony with energy consumption and performance. In the Frontera Hybrid, emissions range from 118g/km to 119g/km of CO2, while fuel economy is pegged at 54.3mpg (WLTP).
Charging
Charging the Frontera Electric is quick and straightforward, with a 20%-80% charge taking as little as 26 minutes for the 44kWh version on a 100kW rapid DC charger. Alternatively, a 20%-80% charge can be done in 4 hours and 10 minutes via a 7.4kW charger, while the same charge through an 11kW public charger will take 2 hours and 55 minutes.

The charging flap is located on the passenger side of the Frontera Electric, and the car comes fitted with an 11kW three-phase on-board charger and mode 3 cable.
The flap’s Padlock LED lights up when the cable is correctly plugged in and locked and then shows the charging status via coloured LED lights.
- White is a welcome light that illuminates the socket area
- Flashing green shows charging is in progress
- Solid blue means delayed charging, and that the charger is on standby. This changes to flashing green when charging starts
- Solid green indicates that charging is complete
- Solid red represents a charging error or malfunction
The driver has the option of immediate charging or delayed charging. Immediate charging is the standard setting and starts as soon as the Frontera is docked. Delayed charging can be used to take advantage of lower electricity tariffs during off-peak hours.

On the road
Regardless of the powertrain, the Frontera has been engineered to deliver a comfortable and predictable drive, but one that is enjoyable, too. The carefully tuned suspension is key to this, with MacPherson struts at the front complemented by a torsion beam set-up at the rear.
The engineering team paid special attention to delivering excellent body control, ensuring the car delivers typical Vauxhall driving and handling characteristics. A low centre of gravity – notably in the Electric version, in which the battery is housed under the floor – means that it always firmly holds the road.
Precise steering was also a focus during the development phase, with the Frontera delivering a particularly accurate on-centre feel, which is reassuring when in narrow lanes, for example.
And, of course, both the electric and hybrid models feature individual driving modes, which can be selected as per the driver’s preference.

Specification and pricing
As with all Vauxhalls, the Frontera comes with an easy-to-navigate trim line-up that has been constructed to make it simple for customers to choose which model they want.
With three generously equipped specification levels – Design, GS and Ultimate – and a choice of hybrid or electric propulsion, customers will find the differences between individual variants in the Frontera range easy to understand.
At launch, the Frontera was the first model in the United Kingdom to achieve price parity between the electric version and the hybrid. Now, Vauxhall’s determination to make EV ownership as accessible as possible has been further reinforced by the fact that the Frontera Electric starts from a lower on-the-road price than the hybrid.
The exceptional value the model offers is further underpinned by the Frontera Electric’s eligibility for a £1,500 saving courtesy of the government’s Electric Car Grant, while Vauxhall’s Electric All In offer adds more value for customers.

Design
The entry point to the Frontera range is extremely well equipped, bringing all the essentials that drivers and passengers expect at an appealing price. Highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™, wireless phone charging, and driver aids such as lane-keep assist, cruise control and speed sign recognition.
GS
Moving up a grade to GS injects a more dynamic flavour to the Frontera inside and out, with an array of extra features and tech that help it stand out even more. Key additions include Intelli-Seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-effect steering wheel and a black roof.
Ultimate
As the name suggests, the top-spec Ultimate versions enhance the car even further, offering everything owners could want in a Frontera. A heated windscreen, heated steering wheel and heated front seats are included, along with a fresh design of 17-inch alloy wheels and high-gloss black roof rails.

Ownership
Service intervals for the Frontera vary depending on model. The Frontera Electric requires an initial service at 8,000 miles or one year (whichever comes sooner). Thereafter, intervals are at 16,000 miles or two years.
For both the 110PS and 145PS Frontera Hybrid models, the intervals are 16,000 miles or one year.
To help customers further, Vauxhall offers a ‘Here For You’ aftersales promise.
‘Here For You’ gives owners a free 12-month RAC roadside assistance plan when they have their Vauxhall serviced at their local Vauxhall retailer. The plan covers breakdown recoveries, plus punctures, lost keys, misfuelling and home starts, and is added after each service, meaning drivers using their local Vauxhall retailer for regular maintenance will see their cover roll over each year.
Additionally, Frontera Electric customers can also take advantage of the Electric All In promotion, which offers eight years’ roadside assistance and eight years’ mobile charging recovery, among other benefits.
Vauxhall’s commitment to making life easy for customers is also reinforced by its Online Store, which brings the brand’s showroom experience straight into buyers’ homes. Customers can configure their specification, personalise finance payments and place an order – all from the comfort of their front room.
Each purchase via the Online Store comes with a 14-day return guarantee and all vehicles bought via the Online Store receive the same three-year warranty, while buyers can also add a three-year service plan to their monthly costs to cover all required maintenance and servicing during their ownership – helping spread out the cost of ownership further.

ABOUT VAUXHALL MOTORS
Vauxhall Motors started making cars in the UK in 1903. Today, as the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, its philosophy is to build vehicles that are relevant to all and offer design, high levels of equipment and technology, and electrification at an attainable level. Vauxhall is one of few automotive brands to produce electric vehicles in Britain at its manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port – the UK’s first electric-only manufacturing plant where the Combo Electric van is made. Vauxhall’s Electric Streets of Britain campaign raises the profile of the need for more on-street electric vehicle charging so that everyone can benefit from the switch to electric. Find out more at www.electricstreets.co.uk
Vauxhall is part of Stellantis NV, a global leader created for the new era of sustainable mobility as a result of the merger between Groupe PSA and FCA Group in January 2021. Vauxhall is a leader in electrification – as of 2021, it was one of the first manufacturers to offer fully electric versions of all its vans. Since the end of 2024, Vauxhall has offered a fully electric version of every model in its car and van line-up. Info: www.vauxhall.co.uk
