HELEN FOORD AWARDED AT AUTOCAR’S GREAT BRITISH WOMEN IN THE CAR INDUSTRY EVENT 2018

HELEN FOORD AWARDED AT AUTOCAR’S GREAT BRITISH WOMEN IN THE CAR INDUSTRY EVENT 2018

Wednesday 20th June 2018:  Today, Helen Foord, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy has been recognised in the Government Affairs category for her work across Vauxhall and Groupe PSA UK at Autocar’s Great British Women in the Car Industry ceremony.

The initiative celebrates the 100 most influential British women in the car industry. It also aims to inspire more females to pursue a career in the automotive business.

As head of government relations for Vauxhall and more recently, PSA Groupe UK, Helen is at the forefront of advising on issues such as emissions and Brexit.  She is responsible for liaising with government on plans for Vauxhall’s UK manufacturing sites, Ellesmere Port and Luton.  Her experience now spans across the whole of Groupe PSA in the UK.  Helen’s work to secure a £10m investment in the Luton van plant was instrumental in ensuring jobs and manufacturing of the new generation Vivaro continues in Luton under PSA.

The new category for this year recognises the current change the automotive industry is currently facing and work the government affairs teams within manufacturers are currently handling.

Helen Foord said. “The industry is going through a massive transformation.  Given the environmental changes and the challenges associated with Brexit, it has never been a more interesting time to work in this industry.”

Helen Foord, started working on the automotive side of governmental relations when she started at General Motors in 2006. Throughout her time at Vauxhall, Helen has worked across EU-wide legislation issues affecting the automotive industry and has also been responsible for making the firm’s Brexit position known within government.

Stephen Norman, Group Managing Director, UK and Opel Ireland, said, “I’m delighted Helen has been recognised by Autocar for her governmental affairs work.  She is an inspiration to us all and works hard to represent Vauxhall’s and Groupe PSA UK’s interests at government level.  This recognition will further help inspire our younger female colleagues setting out and establishing their careers in the automotive industry.”

Andrea Caumon, Head of Loyalty & Retention (Marketing), and Diane Miller, Paint Unit Manager, Ellesmere Port (Manufacturing) were also nominated on behalf of Vauxhall for expertise in their field, driving change and engaging existing and next generation of females into the automotive sector.
