DS Automobiles premium compact hatchback, N°4, embodies the excellence of French expertise and the creativity core to the brand, combined with the most advanced technology.  

Delivering a perfect balance between performance and elegance, a striking design presents a bold front end featuring a broad and intricately detailed black grille. It features a distinctive light signature, inspired by the DS E-TENSE performance concept car and the N°8, with a segmented light beam spanning the bumper that meets the illuminated DS logo in the centre. 

N°4 also stands out for its electrification, connectivity and level of comfort. DS N°4 is the only multi-energy hatchback in its segment to offer a full range of electrified powertrains. DS N°4 is available with a 100% electric E-TENSE powertrain, plug-in hybrid, and self-charging hybrid.  

Available across five generously equipped trim levels – PALLAS, PALLAS+, DS PERFORMANCE LINE, ÉTOILE, ÉTOILE NAPPA – N°4 offers avant-garde design and unparalleled interior refinement with prices starting from £32,200 OTR MRRP.  

Exterior 

With a length of 4.40m, a width of 1.87m and a height of 1.47m, DS N°4 has unique proportions, embodying dynamism and elegance.   

Its athletic shape and sculpted surfaces combine fluidity and tension with muscular lines that give it a unique poise. The flush-fitting door handles blend perfectly with the shaped sides, emphasising the purity of the design.   

N°4 also stands out with the slender bodyshell. Its floating roof, available in an optional contrasting bi-tone black colour, accentuates the flow of the lines and extends towards the rear, giving the whole thing a dynamic poise. A chrome strip emphasises the design of the glass area in a refined way by precisely following the curvature of the bodywork. The roof, taut and lowered, stretches to the sloping rear window, reinforces the aerodynamic look of N°4.   

The sculpted rear wings reveal assertive musculature, combining subtle curves and sharp edges. This architecture highlights the rear quarter pillars, enhanced by an elegant glossy black tip, underlined by the DS Automobiles signature. A distinctive detail that is part of a world of sophistication and attention to detail.  

At the rear, the DS Automobile designers have created a new light signature, where elegance meets technology. The 100% LED taillights incorporate a new ‘Dark Chrome’ cover, enhanced by the laser-engraved relief of scales, which capture the light to create a stunning visual effect. These lights are connected by a dark strip with a gloss black finish, emphasising the impression of width.   

DS PERFORMANCE LINE trim is a limited edition that offers high performance styling with gold design accents skilfully reinterpreted from the world of racing. Gold mirror covers, bonnet badge, boot badge, rear quarter pillar and alloy wheel centre cap, visually enhance the design signature.   

Sitting on large diameter wheels (720mm), N°4 naturally imposes its status and heightens its visual impact. Its unique body-to-wheel ratio in the premium compact hatchback segment give it a racy, athletic and efficient shape. As standard, all powertrains come with 19-inch wheels, while 20-inch wheels are available as an option on the PLUG-IN HYBRID version of ÉTOILE and ÉTOILE NAPPA. 

DS N°4 is available as standard in Night Flight metallic paint, with optional Perla Nera Black and Pearl Crystal metallic paint, Cashmere pastel paint, and Pearl White pearlescent paint.  

Interior 

N°4 embodies the excellence of French expertise by taking craftsmanship to an artisanal level. Every detail is precisely designed, illustrating the DS Automobiles approach by elevating every journey to an art form.   

Inside, ergonomics and elegance merge to create a uniquely immersive experience. The atmosphere is enhanced by the Clous de Paris embossed inserts, a finish inspired by fine watchmaking. This precision work brings a touch of elegance and bolsters the sophisticated identity of the cockpit.   

In front of the driver, a new 10.25-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster, inspired by graphics from N°8, has been installed for even better readability and serenity, in addition to the DS EXTENDED HEAD UP DISPLAY. In the middle of the dashboard, a second 10-inch screen allows you to navigate the DS IRIS SYSTEM infotainment system. 

The pure and “seamless” finish continues with DS AIR (invisible vents), a ventilation system that is designed to be both compact and efficient. Its ultra-thin central vents, very discreetly fitted, conceal invisible fins for a sleek and harmonious look. Airflow channelled by a tapered tip ensures the best possible distribution upwards and downwards, guaranteeing precise and uniform thermal comfort.  

The embodiment of the brand's expertise, the interior is adorned with high-quality fabrics and canvas (PALLAS and PALLAS + trims) and also Alcantara® (ÉTOILE specification) which generously cloaks the dashboard, door panels and centre console, creating a warm and immersive atmosphere. Seats in Criollo Brown Nappa leather with watchstrap upholstery complete the offering for ÉTOILE NAPPA trim, meeting inserts in Brown Ash wood while wide surfaces in Nappa leather cement the overall exclusive character. The pearl stitching, needlework that is exclusive to DS Automobiles and a unique signature in the automotive world, is still present.  

The refinement of the interior ambience is emphasised by indirect lighting on the door panels that can be personalised, designed to enhance side features and heighten the feeling of serenity in-car. The sound experience is also taken to the next level thanks to the optional FOCAL ELECTRA® audio system. Fitted with 14 speakers and 690 Watts of power, it is combined with front (standard on the whole range) and rear acoustic side windows, ensuring incredibly pure sound reproduction. 

With its 2.67m wheelbase and 1.87m width (mirrors folded), N°4 provides generous space, but also plenty of storage. Each passenger enjoys significant elbow and leg room, and comfortable headroom in both rows. The front seats, available with heating, cooling and massage functions on the leather-upholstered versions, take an exclusive approach. Made of high-density foam, they are also wraparound and have an expansive shape at seat level, combining support and extreme comfort.  

The boot size is a remarkable 430 litres for the HYBRID version, 360 litres for N°4 PLUG-IN HYBRID and 390 litres for new 100% electric N°4 E-TENSE. Perfectly sized and benefiting from a low load lip, the boot in N°4’is accessible via a tailgate that can be powered with a hands-free access function.  

Technology 

DS N°4 presents a tech-forward experience for both driver and passenger with high-specification driver assistance, safety, and in-car innovation coming as standard.  

Always as close as possible to the driver’s expectations, with DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0 N°4 offers level-2 semi-autonomous driving through semi-automatic lane change and overtaking and advance speed recommendation, by reading signposts. DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0 has sensors that record everything that happens in and around the car to guarantee a smooth and serene drive.  

Coupled with this equipment, N°4 also features the DS DRIVER ATTENTION MONITORING (DAA4), which continuously analyses the level of attention and fatigue of the driver thanks to an infrared camera installed in the front body pillar.  

The DS MATRIX LED VISION headlamps are made up of three LED modules that adapt to traffic conditions, steering wheel angle, speed and the weather with five pre-set modes: city, countryside, motorway, poor weather and fog. They also allow you to drive constantly on main beam without ever dazzling other road users and have a range of nearly 300m.  

N°4 also includes DS EXTENDED HEAD UP DISPLAY, a cutting-edge technology that optimises the driving experience by projecting essential information directly into the driver’s field of vision. Through an advanced optical effect, the data is displayed as if suspended 4m in front of the windscreen. This visual immersion marks a step towards augmented reality, making it possible to consult speed, driving aids, navigation, warning messages and multimedia information without ever taking your eyes off the road.  

This immersive technology is part of a digital ecosystem around DS IRIS SYSTEM. This infotainment system adopts the seamless and intuitive ergonomics of a smartphone. Its responsive 10-inch central touchscreen is based on widget organisation, providing quick and easy-to-personalise access to different features. Every time a driver uses their car, their preferences are automatically loaded, ensuring they have a bespoke experience. 

Powertrains 

Designed on the modular EMP2 platform, N°4 stands out for its ability to accommodate different powertrains while maintaining exemplary road holding and comfort. This state-of-the-art architecture incorporates advanced technical solutions, such as weld-bonding – a process combining nearly 34m of adhesive bead and multiple welding points – guaranteeing rigidity, accuracy and structural efficiency. 

N°4 E-TENSE offers a 100% electric powertrain combining a 280 mile range (WLTP combined cycle) and high performance with power of 213hp and 343Nm of torque.  

N°4 E-TENSE comes with a battery that has a net capacity of 58.3kWh, incorporating nickel-enriched chemistry which optimises energy efficiency while maintaining compactness.  

A new heat pump architecture and increased size of the cooling and heating components have been designed to provide efficiency and optimised thermal comfort, meeting the demands of customers in this segment.  

Three deceleration modes are available via paddles located behind the steering wheel: D for low energy recovery, B for moderate energy recovery and B+ for increased energy recovery.  

The aerodynamics of N°4 E-TENSE have also been optimised: the ground clearance lowered by 10mm and the addition of almost invisible aerodynamic elements inside the grille help to reduce drag and maximise energy efficiency.  

Designed to adapt to everyday needs, N°4 E-TENSE is fitted with an 11kW on-board charger as standard and can accept DC charging power of up to 120kW. At a rapid-charging point, it can go from 20 to 80% charge in around 30 minutes or recover a range of 62 miles in 11 minutes. Charging 20 to 80% from a 7.4kWh charging point takes 5h 20 mins, or 3h 35mins from a 11kWh charger.  

N°4 E-TENSE offers the convenience of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which gives the option of powering an electrical device from the N°4's high-voltage battery. For example, to charge an e-bike or operate an electrical device. The system can deliver up to 3kW and 16A. 

N°4 PLUG-IN HYBRID drivetrain combines a 180hp,1.6-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 110hp electric motor, integrated with a new eDCT7 dual-clutch automatic gearbox designed to optimise fuel consumption and performance.  

With a combined output of 225hp and 360Nm of torque, the N°4 PLUG-IN HYBRID provides remarkable acceleration, accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just 7.1 seconds.  

Featuring a battery net capacity of 14.6kWh, N°4 PLUG-IN HYBRID can travel up to 50 miles (combined WLTP range) in 100% electric mode before switching to hybrid operation. With a 3.7kW on-board charger as standard, an optional 7.4kW version is also offered, allowing faster charging at an appropriate charging point.  

N°4 HYBRID option combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with a 21kW (28hp) electric motor, producing 145hp with integrated into the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.  

With this optimised hybrid architecture, N°4 HYBRID can drive on electric only for up to 50% of the time during urban use, depending on traffic conditions and driving style. It is self-charging and recovers energy to power its battery from the deceleration and braking phases.  

With 230Nm of torque, this powertrain ensures first-rate performance while displaying limited CO₂ emissions (from 116 g/km).  

Specification 

PALLAS: With prices starting from £36,995 OTR and available in 100% electric E-TENSE powertrain, the PALLAS specification sits on 19-inch 'LUSANNE' diamond-cut alloy wheels and provides a refined interior fitted with Diamond Tungsten Fabric and DS Black Canvas seats finished with stitching. The dashboard and door panels have basalt Black trim with a tortoiseshell effect, as well as Belem Bronze inserts for a sophisticated look overall.  

Equipment as standard 

PALLAS+: Starting from £32,200, PALLAS+ is available across all electrified powertrains, E-TENSE, PLUG-IN HYBRID, and HYBRID. It upgrades the specification of PALLAS with Diamond cloth interior, 19-inch 'SAPPORO' alloy wheels (except on E-TENSE versions) and enhances cabin technology with DS Iris system, a wireless smartphone charger, and keyless entry and start. 

Equipment as standard (in addition to all equipment from PALLAS)  

An additional pack is also offered for PALLAS+ with Comfort Pack: power driver’s seat and heated front seats, acoustic and tinted rear glass. In addition, five further options are available independently of a pack: tool-free removable tow bar (not for E-TENSE), electric sunroof, motorised tailgate, Perla Nera Black roof, and 7.4kWh on board charger (PLUG-IN HYBRID only).  

DS PERFORMANCE Line: Priced from £33,400, DS PERFORMANCE Line trim provides a sportier look with striking gold colour accents on the exterior. It also upgrades with Alcantara interior, DS Performance Line badging, and 19-inch ‘MINNEAPOLIS’ alloy wheels. It is available across E-TENSE, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid variants.

Individual options are available for DS PERFORMANCE Line models include: FOCAL Electra® HiFi system, heated and massaging front seats, motorised tailgate, tool-free removable tow bar (not for E-TENSE), 7.4kWh on board charger, and Perla Nera Black roof.  

ÉTOILE: Available from £35,000, ÉTOILE trim also comes with a black Alcantara interior and is a further step up in premium offering with 19-inch 'LIMA' diamond-cut alloy wheels and more technology as standard. ÉTOILE is available in all powertrain variants.

Two packs are available in the ÉTOILE specification: Absolute Comfort with massaging and heated seats, heated steering wheel, and FOCAL Electra® audio system. As well as Absolute Tech for DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0, 360-degree panoramic vision, and auto-dimming exterior mirrors.

ÉTOILE NAPPA: Starting from £37,400, ÉTOILE NAPPA offers a premium interior offering with ultimate driver comfort presented from the Criollo Brown Nappa watchstrap leather and exquisite Criollo Brown Nappa leather décor with pearl stitching. Available in PLUG-IN HYBRID and HYBRID versions only.
