In addition, the fully electric E-408 benefits from a £1,500 Electric Car Grant, further increasing accessibility alongside the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The new 408 refines its distinctive fastback silhouette with the introduction of a new lighting signature, including illuminated badging front and rear, and improved aerodynamics. Inside, more elegant materials and new instrument panel graphics enhance the high-tech cabin, while the characteristic PEUGEOT i-Cockpit and a wide choice of electrified powertrains provide instinctive driving pleasure.
With a choice of three highly equipped trim levels - ALLURE, GT and GT Premium – the new 408 delivers premium features for first-class comfort, in keeping with its role as the official red carpet car for BAFTA, for whom PEUGEOT is the Official Vehicle Partner.
REALIGNED PRICING
With its standout new design, a wide range of powertrain options and advanced technology, the new 408 is priced at a lower entry point than its predecessor. Starting from £31,995 OTR and with price walks reduced between trims, the new 408 is a more attractive option than ever.
The new E-408 also qualifies for the UK government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant (ECG), alongside many of the brand’s other electric models.
Prices start from £31,995 OTR for the 408 HYBRID, £38,495 OTR for the PLUG-IN HYBRID, and £34,195 OTR for the E-408 (£32,695 after the £1,500 ECG).
A DISTINCTIVE FASTBACK SILHOUETTE
Positioned between a fastback and SUV, the PEUGEOT 408 is not only a design statement but a unique offering in the market. The new 408 refines the original’s distinctive design, with the introduction of a new front grille, which along with the PEUGEOT shield is illuminated on GT and GT Premium trims. The reworked front face and bumper also includes new ‘three-claw’ daytime running lights. The revised exterior styling introduces a wider lower stance, creating greater road presence.
The new 408 is also the first PEUGEOT to light up the brand’s lettering at the rear of the car, surrounded by a gloss black décor and seamlessly integrated into a clear lens strip that spans the car’s width.
Continuing the 408’s history of disruptive wheel designs, the updated model boasts new 19-inch ‘ADAKITE’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, with a unique ‘GRAPHITE’ design on the E-408. The plug-in hybrid version features 20-inch ‘MONOLITHE’ diamond-cut alloys on GT Premium trim.
Bold and striking yet sophisticated, the new 408 debuts an exclusive Flare Green metallic body colour as the standard paint option. Other colour options include Okenite White, Selenium Grey, Nera Black, and Elixir Red.
ELEGANT INTERIOR FABRICS AND ENHANCED TECH
The New 408’s interior embodies PEUGEOT’s commitment to quality. New instrument panel graphics enhance the high-tech cabin of the new 408 along with new materials: ALLURE is adorned with ‘TREMEZZO’ seat fabric with contrasting stitch detail, and GT trim with ‘UZILA’ seat fabric with green stitch detail. On GT Premium, PEUGEOT has introduced AlcantaraÒ with ‘Isabella’ leather effect and cloth trim.
Dedicated to driving pleasure and innovative technology, PEUGEOT’S new 408 features the brand’s unique i-CockpitÒ, designed around the driver. ALLURE trim boasts the PEUGEOT i-Connect system with a 10-inch digital instrument panel and 10-inch HD touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. On top of this, GT trim features i-Connect Connected Navigation and virtual i-TogglesÒ, providing shortcuts that allow quick access to favourite climate settings, navigation to frequent destinations, phone contacts, preferred radio stations, and more. On GT Premium, customers also benefit from a 3D digital instrument panel.
A FULLY ELECTRIFIED POWERTRAIN LINE-UP
As the mainstream European brand with the most extensive electric vehicle range, PEUGEOT continues to lead the way in the transition to electrification. The new 408 is no exception, offering a fully electrified line-up, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions.
The new 408 HYBRID boasts a highly efficient 145hp powertrain, featuring a 48V self-charging hybrid with a dual clutch six-speed automatic gearbox (e-DSC6) and a 1.2L petrol engine. With efficiency and practicality in mind, the new 408 HYBRID offers pure electric driving up to 1km at low speed, making it ideal for commuter traffic and urban driving. This is made possible thanks to the vehicle’s 0.9kWh 48V battery and a 16kW (21hp) electric motor integrated into the gearbox.
The new 408 PLUG-IN HYBRID utilises an efficient 1.6L petrol engine, combined with a 92kW (125hp) electric motor incorporated into the dual-clutch seven-speed automatic electrified gearbox (e-DSC7). The plug-in hybrid powertrain produces a combined 221hp and 360Nm of torque, while the 16.2kWh battery enables up to 50 miles of electric range (WLTP EAER). A 3.7kW on-board charger is fitted as standard on Allure and GT trims, enabling the battery to be fully recharged in 3 hours 25 minutes. GT Premium models come with a 7.4kW on-board charger, reducing the charging time to 1 hour 40 minutes.
Designed with performance and efficiency in mind, the new E-408 features a 58kWh battery (usable capacity), offering 210hp and 343Nm of torque. It has an electric range of up to 283 miles (WLTP) and supports rapid charging up to 120kW. Three levels of regenerative braking are available, selected via the steering wheel mounted paddles. The new E-408 also features battery pre-conditioning and Vehicle to Load (V2L), the latter allowing users to power external devices via the car’s high-voltage battery — for example, charging an e-bike. The V2L adapter is available as an accessory from PEUGEOT retailers.
The E-408 features a heat pump as standard on GT Premium for more efficient cabin temperature conditioning, which is also available as an option on other trim levels.
PREMIUM FEATURES FOR FIRST-CLASS COMFORT
With customer choice at the heart of PEUGEOT’s strategy, the new 408 offers three generously equipped trim levels: ALLURE, GT and GT Premium.
In addition to the aforementioned upgrades to the exterior, the ALLURE trim benefits from FULL LED headlight technology. It offers a gloss black front grille and door mirror shells, as well as dark-tinted rear windows, providing a premium and intimate feel.
For greater convenience, ALLURE trim provides PEUGEOT Open & Go keyless entry and start system, as well as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function. It also offers rear parking sensors & HD reversing camera; dual zone automatic air conditioning, and an electrochromic rear-view mirror, for driver safety and practicality. Four USB-C sockets (two front, two rear) ensure all occupants can stay connected. Additionally, ë-408 ALLURE versions come with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, for extra comfort during the colder months.
GT trim builds on these features with the addition of PEUGEOT Matrix LED Headlight Technology, and both the PEUGEOT shield and front grille are illuminated. The interior is upgraded with a grained leather steering wheel with GT logo and AlcantaraÒ facia and door panel inserts. Additional equipment includes an electric tailgate, lane position assist and front parking sensors.
GT Premium trim goes further with the features on offer. In addition to the AlcantaraÒ upholstery, the interior boasts the following: three-stage heated front seats; eight-programme multi-point massage function, and four-way electric lumbar adjustment. The new 408 has electrically adjustable front seats, providing greater comfort for both driver and passenger. Additional driver assist features on GT Premium trim include rear cross traffic alert, long range blind spot detection, and a 360° camera system, while a ten-speaker FOCAL Premium Hi-Fi system delivers an immersive audio experience.
