PEUGEOT RECORDS A POSITIVE START TO 2021 DESPITE CONTINUED MARKET DISRUPTION

PEUGEOT has continued its strong momentum in 2021, increasing its UK car and van market share from 4.4% overall in 2020, to 4.6% in the first quarter of 2021, according to the latest registration figures recorded by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). PEUGEOT has also improved its Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) passenger car sales mix versus 2020, jumping from 11.2% to 17.0% in the first quarter of 2021, with over 2600 sales. In the most recent figures for March, PEUGEOT vans were the fourth best-selling in the UK, achieving a 7.6% market share in March.

PEUGEOT RECORDS A POSITIVE START TO 2021 DESPITE CONTINUED MARKET DISRUPTION

This continuing strong performance was achieved despite the Covid-19 enforced closure of UK retailers for the first three months of the year.

PEUGEOT pioneered online sales in 2017 and its continued investment in these platforms has enabled it to remain connected to consumers during this difficult period. The Virtual Showroom platform allows buyers to organise live, one-on-one tours with a product expert around a vehicle they are interested in, while PEUGEOT Buy Online allows buyers to configure, finance and order their new car, all from the comfort of their home.

Committed to having electrified versions of all its models by 2025, PEUGEOT’s strong LEV sales mix for the first quarter of 2021 has been achieved with models like the e-208 and e-2008. Both feature a large 50kWh battery and powerful 136hp motor, which on a full charge combine to give a range of 217 miles in the e-208 and 206 miles in the e-2008, according to WLTP.

Over 4100 commercial vehicle registrations in March helped lift PEUGEOT to fourth place in the sector, with a market share of 7.4%. Fleets and businesses have been impressed by the brand’s award-winning line-up that includes the new Partner and Expert, plus the larger Boxer. The e-Expert, a full electric variant of the popular Expert van, is available now, with the e-Partner and e-Boxer following later this year.

Julie David, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK said: “I’m extremely proud of all the hard work and professionalism of all our staff and Retailer Network, who have pulled together to maintain such a strong market share over the last three months, which have been challenging for everyone, not just the industry. Thanks to investment in PEUGEOT Buy Online, we’ve been able to continue communicating with and serving our customers, even with showrooms closed. And of course, with our award-winning range of vehicles and continued commitment to electrification I am extremely positive and excited for the rest of 2021 and beyond.”

PEUGEOT’s passenger car range is available to order from PEUGEOT retailers and via PEUGEOT Buy Online, where customers can configure and order their vehicle entirely online. PEUGEOT Buy Online reinforces PEUGEOT’s new brand promise of creating quality experiences for customers and ensuring their time is well-spent, by making purchasing a car online simple and convenient. Customers can configure their vehicle, obtain a part exchange valuation, personalise their finance and complete their purchase, all from the comfort of their own home. Customers wishing to purchase an LCV are able to reserve their vehicle online and then complete their journey with their local PEUGEOT retailer.
