Today, electronics and software define the major innovations. From the Type 1 of 1889 to the New PEUGEOT 308, arriving in the UK in 2022, the PEUGEOT brand has been at the top of technological innovation for 132 years. Today, electronics and software define the major innovations. PEUGEOT’s i-Cockpit® interior, sophisticated driving aids, its electrified vehicle ecosystem alongside remote ‘over the air’ vehicle software updates are the most recent displays of this. All these innovations are available on the New 308.

Over the course of its history, PEUGEOT has undergone several revolutions: industrial, technological, political, social and now digital. Since the 2000s, a new digital revolution has been underway and is now accelerating. PEUGEOT has obviously adapted, innovating in a field that is no longer just mechanical, but virtual.

PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®: A fully digital interface

Launched in October 2021, the New PEUGEOT 308 offers customers a number of innovations set to make their life easier and more convenient. Starting with the next-generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, which has evolved in terms of ergonomics, design and the quality of materials used – the next-generation i-Cockpit® also features a brand-new digital interface.

Part of the PEUGEOT DNA, the next-generation i-Cockpit® also comes with PEUGEOT’s i-Connect® Advanced – an intuitive, connected and resolutely modern infotainment system allowing for seamless smartphone integration.

Located at eye level, the digital instrument cluster comes with a 10-inch digital display (depending on trim), and on GT variants features three-dimensional graphics. Users can access features like PEUGEOT’s Connected 3D Navigation with traffic updates via the digital instrument cluster.

From Allure level onwards, the New 308 comes with PEUGEOT’s i-Toggles functions. Each i-Toggle is a touch-sensitive switch, which can be used to access key features such as an application launch, air conditioning and a telephone contact.

Advanced driving aids:

The latest generation of driving aids complement the onboard technology inside the new 308. The next generation of driver aids not only improves the comfort and safety of vehicle occupants, but also the safety of other road users.

The new Drive Assist 2.0 feature consists of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go (EAT8 automatic transmission) and Lane Keeping Assist. It also adds three new features that can be used on dual carriageways and motorways:

  • Semi-automatic lane change: the system gives the driver the option to overtake the vehicle in front and then return to the lane at speeds between 43mph and 111mph
  • Anticipated speed recommendation: the system suggests that the driver adapt their speed (accelerate or decelerate) according to the speed limit signs displayed on the road
  • Curve speed adaptation: Optimises vehicle speed according to the curve radius at speeds of up to 111mph

A fully digital environment for electrified variants:

In order to support customers making the switch to electric vehicles, PEUGEOT offers a range of services. These services are available to users of all electrified PEUGEOT models, including the New 308 Plug-in Hybrid.

The PEUGEOT Easy-Charge makes it easier to access the various charging solutions with:

  • A range of charging solutions at home or in the office, via a wide range of options, including; Wall Box, Smart Wall Box etc.
  • A facilitated public charging offer via Free2Move, allowing access to a network of more than 220,000 charging points across Europe – with users able to select stations based on their distance, charging speed and price.

The PEUGEOT Easy-Care system further adds to the convenience of owning an electric vehicle with:

  • New range and ownership simulators on the PEUGEOT website to help users understand the benefits of owning an electrified vehicle
  • Service contracts and roadside assistance can be included in monthly finance payments
  • A battery capacity certificate at the time of servicing makes it easier to resell the vehicle onwards, with new owners reassured by the battery quality
  • An eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery

The MyPEUGEOT® smartphone application also allows users to:

  • Launch or schedule a thermal pre-condition of the cabin and the electrical systems. In addition to improving comfort, this function also optimises the battery range and the vehicle’s energy efficiency.
  • Schedule, launch or defer the battery charge

Customers can also purchase their new 308 through the Buy Online portal where users can configure their vehicle, obtain a part-exchange valuation on their current car, adjust their finance package and order their next car from the comfort of their home. The PEUGEOT Virtual Showroom also allows users to schedule a one-on-one virtual walkaround of a vehicle they’re interested in.

Over the air updates: the next level in digital updates

The new 308 is the first PEUGEOT model to receive ‘over the air’ updates. The 100% digital update process allows users to remotely download new software improvements, vehicle updates and fixes to the on-board programmes – much like users already can with smartphones and computers.

Not only does this make life more convenient for users, but it also improves the vehicle performance. Customers can also programme when the updates are downloaded and installed, ensuring their own schedule is never disturbed.
