Modena, 08 June 2018 - The Paris-Modena ride is a cycling tour for athletes and those who love a challenge and is this year taking place from the 7th – 13th June 2018.
The cycling charity ride is organised by Italian car brand Maserati in conjunction with the Maserati West Europe offices based in Paris. Besides the personal challenge, each kilometre covered during the ride (around 100kms per day) will raise money for the charity “Rêves”, which helps to realise the dreams of ill children.
Once again the Paris-Modena charity ride has attracted a large number of VIP participants, including former F1 driver and actor Paul Belmondo, Italian national cycling team coach Davide Cassani, and former professional cyclists including Alessandro Ballan, Marco Velo and Paolo Fornaciari. Also attending are José Miguel Antúnez, former Spanish national basketball captain, Italian alpine skier Manuela Moelgg, the Michelin starred chef Andrea Sarri, and Matteo Panini, owner of the Panini Museum, which houses one of the world’s most important collection of historical Maserati cars.
This extraordinary adventure is reserved for only 35 participants, who will travel through France and Italy to reach Modena in five days. The ride itself begins on Friday 8th June at Vienne near Lyon, France. The route will take the cyclists to Mens and the famous climb of Alpe d’Huez.
On Saturday 9th June the cyclists will continue their journey towards the Galibier pass, till Modane where the group will stop for lunch. They will then continue towards Turin where they will stop for the night.
On Sunday 10th June the riders will start the stage from Grugliasco “Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Plant” where Maserati produce the Quattroporte and Ghibli saloon cars. They will also stop at the Mirafiori plant where the Maserati Levante SUV is produced where they will be able to ride on the dedicated test track. The route will then continue through the Langhe region.
The fourth day of the tour sees the riders cycle towards Lido Di Camaiore, having lunch at Bagno Ariston Mare before continuing to Montecatini Terme. They will pass by Lucca and Collodi before reaching Montecatini Terme in the afternoon.
The final stage on Tuesday 12th June will lead the cyclists from Montecatini Alto through Abetone and then to Modena where they will tour the Panini collection, which includes some of the most historic and iconic Maserati cars. The final destination will be the head office of Maserati in the centre of Modena.
Pirelli will support the tour be providing the P Zero Velo tyre for the bicycles and the new coloured tyres for the Maserati support vehicles.
