EXTERIOR DESIGN

The C10 is a large D-SUV with plenty of interior space and a solid and robust sporty exterior design. With a length of 4,739 mm, a width of 1,900 mm, a height of 1,680 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, the C10 satisfies every need with its comfortable and functional space. Furthermore, the ground clearance contributes to guaranteeing stability and safety on all kinds of terrain. Specifically, the front face of the vehicle has a balanced design, with automatic LED headlights and roof bars which enhance the vehicle’s adventurous spirit. The three parallel waistlines on the sides, together with the black flush door handles and the “shark fin” antenna, provide a modern and aerodynamic touch to the design.

Additionally, the rear wiper blade hidden under the spoiler and the sleek LED taillights add to the vehicle’s technological and cutting-edge look. More specifically, the bonnet sets itself apart with its prominent and raised line, which not only adds visual power, but also plays a key role in protecting pedestrians. The dumbbell-shaped grill and the well-defined, protruding front bumper contribute to providing a sense of spaciousness and safety. Meanwhile, the sides feature three parallel lines which create a strong impression of strength and stability, and the shoulders sport rounded and full shapes which evoke muscularity, with their sharp transitions adding to the sense of power. The entire design is further enhanced by the slightly squared wheel arches.

INTERIOR DESIGN

With a special focus on attention-to-detail and sustainability, the C10’s interior design has been conceived to offer an advanced and innovative space, which combines elegance and functionality without making any compromises. For example, this is exemplified by the five-way scroll buttons on its steering wheel, which allow for rapid and intuitive control of the most used functions during driving, or by the 10.25-inch instrument panel which, together with the high-definition 14.6-inch touchscreen, contributes to the feeling of driving a highly technological car. It is worth noting that the C10 uses sustainable materials like cellulose to reduce carbon emission by 30% during production. Environmental awareness has been combined with a technological and intuitive aesthetic, with the C10 taking home the prestigious "International CMF Design Award 2023".

The interior also provide practical solutions, like the spacious front armrest box which is ideal for storing small objects or charging portable electronic devices, and the centre dual cup holder which includes internal spring-loaded side supports for improved practicality. The PRND drive selector is mounted on the steering column, saving on space and ensuring easy operation. One of the most refined elements of the interior design is the C10’s concealed electric air vent. Moreover, the C10 is equipped with innovative multi-mode ambient lighting which improves the interior atmosphere by ensuring a customisable and immersive sensory experience. Lastly, comfort is also guaranteed thanks to the electric sunshade, which keeps the interiors cool during summer months. While open, the 2.1-m2 panoramic sunroof floods the interiors with natural light, enhancing both well-being and the driving experience.

COMFORT

With 435 litres of boot capacity in normal conditions, the vehicle can host up to seven 20-inch suitcases ready for holidays. When the rear seats are down, the trunk capacity increases up to 1,410 litres, which is enough to accommodate 15 suitcases of the same size. The boot can reach a maximum depth of 1,820 mm and a width of 1,110 mm, offering the versatility to satisfy any transport need.

Furthermore, the interior space is highly flexible, allowing for numerous seat configuration options to offer different setups based on one’s needs. For example, via the central control button it is possible to easily adjust the position of the seats to find a comfortable seat resting position. Not to mention that it is possible to fully recline two or all the rear seats to create even more space. Plus, with the front and rear seats completely folded down, the C10 can turn into a 1.8-metre-long and 1.2-metre-wide picnic area. Moreover, the vehicle includes 26 storage spaces: 10 in the first row, 10 in the second row, and 6 in the boot, ensuring that there is a specific space for any need.

The interior is made in high-quality materials to offer a premium and comfortable riding experience. The seats, upholstered in silicon certified by OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, are especially fit for families with children thanks to the use of highly durable materials and an air-quality management system which ensures a healthy environment inside the car. The C10 D-SUV is also equipped with 3D ergonomic seats which have been made with the latest bio-based products. These seats use a combination of 7 layers of different hardness and low-lag foam to optimally distribute body pressure.

The attention to detail also extends to the vehicle’s soundproofing, which can be compared to that of top of the range luxury cars. Thanks to the precise acoustic optimisation, which reduces rolling and aerodynamic sound, the C10 offers one of the best sound experiences on the market. Meanwhile, aerodynamic features (e.g., the bottom undertray, the flat battery pack, and the front and rear wheel spoilers) contribute to reducing air resistance and outside noise. Even the windscreen has been designed to dampen noise. Not to mention that the ultra-quiet motor of the C10 keeps overall noise levels to ≤76 dB(A). The car windows gradually slow down at the upper and lower end points while maintaining a uniform speed during the intermediate process, further reducing the noises, providing a more comfortable and premium experience.

Lastly, the C10 features two smart systems for locking and unlocking the vehicle. Indeed, it is possible to automatically unlock the car by moving closer or farther from it with a compatible mobile phone thanks to Bluetooth technology. Alternatively, the model offers an NFC digital key that unlocks the car when it is held close to the reader near the rearview mirror.

SMART ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN

The C10 is designed to meet and exceed the highest efficiency and performance standards thanks to its advanced electric powertrain solutions. Equipped with a 160-kW motor (218 hp) and 320 Nm of torque, the vehicle offers outstanding acceleration stats, with the torque distribution guaranteeing high performance both at medium and high speeds, making it perfect for dynamic overtaking and handling.

One of the key elements of the C10’s powertrain is the energy recovery system, which includes both regenerative braking and the “freewheeling” function. The vehicle offers three driving modes to deal with various road conditions and driver preferences. Battery thermal temperature management ensures excellent performance with a system that intelligently manages the temperature of the battery pack, maintaining efficiency both in the charge and discharge phases.

The C10 SUV has been developed using Cell-to-Chassis technology, which integrates the battery cells into the structure of the vehicle. This approach not only improves the battery layout, but also saves on space, increasing the torsional rigidity of the chassis to 42,500 NM/degree. This leads to superior safety and better handling, in addition to offering more interior space thanks to the vertical optimisation of the battery area. The overall performance of the C10 is supported by a high-performance electric drive unit which leads to greater efficiency and range. The unit has been designed to last and has an expected lifespan of more than 370,000 miles.

In particular, the C10’s battery thermal temperature system utilises advanced heat and battery cooling technology during charge and discharge events. The intelligent control algorithm allows for the independent management of the temperature inside the cabin, improving the efficiency of the system and guaranteeing a comfortable environment for the passengers. Additionally, the system offers artificial intelligence based diagnostics, monitoring the health status of the electric system in real-time and supplying early warnings in the case of malfunctions, which leads to an improvement in the overall reliability of the vehicle. Furthermore, thanks to its artificial intelligence, the C10 can learn the user’s driving habits and adapt over time, constantly improving the software strategies to optimise the vehicle’s performance. The system offers significant redundancy, ensuring that it is possible to maintain a high level of energy efficiency and power recovery in the case of failure.

Lastly, as far as charging is concerned, the C10 is equipped with a 6.6 kW AC charger, which allows one to go from 30% to 80% battery capacity in around 6.1 hours; meanwhile, for a faster charge, the DC system allows one to achieve the same result in just 30 minutes. The 69.9-kWh battery pack guarantees 261 miles of WLTP combined range, making the C10 fit for long journeys.

INFOTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY

The LEAPMOTOR C10’s infotainment and connectivity system has been designed to offer an advanced and immersive experience, improving vehicle use and making each journey more enjoyable and intuitive. The C10 integrates multifunction steering wheel controls, a 10.25-inch instrument panel with 1920x720 of resolution and a 14.6-inch, high-definition central display with 2560x1440 of resolution. The screens are laminated to reduce glare and improve visual quality in daylight and offer a smartphone-like experience with their completely touchscreen interface. Moreover, the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system can be remotely controlled via smartphone and includes a series of customisable options, ensuring outstanding climate comfort for every passenger. The control system allows one to easily adjust the direction of the wind and intensity of the flow via simple and intuitive commands.

One of the C10’s strengths is its ability to be updated via OTA (Over-The-Air) upgrades, which allows for the installation of new functionalities and software updates over time and ensures that the vehicle always stays up to date. The updates can regard ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) functionalities, the infotainment system, navigation, or cybersecurity measures. Even the electronic control unit can be optimised to enhance motor, transmission, and battery management performance.

The C10 also includes an impressive audio system which includes an entirely self-developed amplifier and 12 speakers designed to support 7.1 surround sound. With 840 W of power output, the audio system features advanced personalised tuning thanks to an equalizer which allows the user to create their own favourite sound effects via four audio modes: Enjoy, Surround, Theatre, and Dynamic. Additionally, the C10’s intelligent ambient light system synchronises with music, creating an immersive visual and acoustic experience. As far as mobile device connectivity is concerned, the D-SUV offers up to five charging locations throughout the vehicle: two in the front row (USB Type-A and Type-C) and two in the rear area (USB  Type-A and Type-C), in addition to a wireless 15W-charging pad.

Meanwhile, the model also features highly reactive intelligent voice interaction and the ability to detect the source of the voice in order to respond exclusively to the driver or passengers. The system offers natural interaction, responding to a wide range of voice commands, including those for navigation, climate, music, and communications control.

Lastly, the C10 is equipped with a mobile app which allows one to remotely control numerous vehicle functions. These include battery preheating to optimise charging in cold climates; remote air conditioning control to warm or cool the car before getting in; monitoring the vehicle status (energy level, range, mileage, and vehicle position); and the possibility to lock or unlock the vehicle via Bluetooth, even without mobile connectivity.

SAFETY

Safety comes first on the C10, and it includes a complete system of advanced functions to guarantee the greatest protection both for the driver and passengers. The vehicle was designed to satisfy the highest standards in terms of safety, combining advanced technologies with a robust structural design. Moreover, the C10 was designed to achieve the best results of the new car impact programme test thanks to the integration of advanced systems both for active and passive safety. This expected result is the outcome of careful engineering and rigorous safety tests, which make sure the vehicle meets and exceeds the most stringent European standards.

One of the C10’s main features is its advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), which includes 17 driver-assistance functions like advanced emergency braking, lane keeping, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control. The vehicle is also equipped with a high-resistance structure which has been designed to effectively absorb and disperse energy in the case of collisions. The materials used in the construction of the chassis and body were chosen to offer the greatest protection without compromising on performance or vehicle efficiency. As regards passive safety, the C10 is equipped with a complete airbag system, which includes front and side airbag a safety air curtain and a far-side airbag. The electronic stability program (ESC) is another key feature, as it helps maintain vehicle control during adverse driving conditions (e.g., slippery surfaces or emergency manoeuvres). This system works in synergy with the ABS and traction control to guarantee safe and stable driving. Obviously, the vehicle could not go without a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), which alerts the driver in the case of abnormal changes in pressure, preventing accidents caused by deflated or damaged tires. And to further improve safety, the vehicle features high-brightness LED headlights which ensure outstanding visibility in every lighting condition. The front and rear parking sensors, together with 360-degree camera, ease handling in tight spaces, reducing the risk of low-speed collisions.

LINEUP

The C10 is launching in the UK with a clear and simple one version lineup featuring the highest level of specification as standard. From an aesthetic point of view, the model is available in five colours - Canopy Grey, Pearly White, Tundra Grey, Glazed Green, and Metallic Black - each of which provides the vehicle with a modern and elegant look along with standard-fit 20” alloy wheels. Standard equipment includes electrically adjustable front seats (4-way for the passenger and 6-way for the driver), an automatic dual-zone, air-conditioning system, automatic LED headlights and taillights and electrically operated heated and folding exterior mirrors. One of the most distinctive features is the panoramic sunroof, which includes an electric sunshade, allowing the passengers to enjoy natural lighting inside the vehicle.  Ambient lighting inside can be personalised.

Moreover, the vehicle is equipped with rear parking sensors and a 360-degree panoramic camera, making parking easier and safer in tight spaces. A 10.25-inch instrument cluster also comes standard, as does a 14.6-inch HD central touchscreen which includes an integrated navigation system. The L2 ADAS driver-assistance system, with its 12 high-precision sensors, offers 17 advanced functions to ensure the greatest amount of safety during the drive.

Additionally, C10 is compatible with wireless charging for smartphones and features a high-quality, 12-speaker audio system. The system can receive OTA (Over-the-Air) updates, which allows the vehicle software to always stay up to date. Further features include an electric tailgate, rear privacy glass, and a heated steering wheel. The seats are upholstered in OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, a material which was chosen for its durability and sustainable credentials, and are ventilated and heated in the front, enhancing comfort in every type of weather condition.
