FIAT unveils the ‘World’s Happiest Car Playlist’ – scientifically designed to supercharge your summer drive

Exclusive playlist is scientifically formulated to bring joy to listeners
Specially selected songs have been picked to celebrate 70 years of the Fiat 600 and the arrival of the award-winning Grande Panda into UK showrooms in September

FIAT has created the ultimate soundtrack for the summer with a unique Spotify playlist that guarantees every family road trip will hit all the right notes.

Curated to celebrate the 70^th Anniversary of the legendary Fiat 600 and the arrival of the award-winning Grande Panda into UK showrooms, the ‘World’s Happiest Car Playlist by FIAT’ features 30 mood-boosting songs, including tracks by ABBA, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, each scientifically chosen to get drivers and passengers smiling and singing.

In partnership with Dr Claire Renfrew, who specialises in music psychology, FIAT has sifted through hours of tracks to find the perfect playlist for family holiday getaways. Dr Renfrew’s research revealed a number of musical ‘rules’ that help certain tracks deliver joy to listeners of all ages.

FIAT’s formula for musical happiness is simple, with each song using a melodic major seventh chord* and a 4/4-time signature** played at an energetic beats per minute of at least 137. The tracks also benefit from a ‘repetitive, simple structure’ and positive lyrics. When combined, these musical elements can raise the listener’s heart rate, releasing dopamine - the ‘happiness chemical’ - in the brain, enhancing feelings of joy and wellbeing.

Featuring the likes of Day Tripper by The Beatles, Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, and She’s Electric by Oasis all 30 songs on ‘World’s Happiest Car Playlist by FIAT’ follow these foot-tapping 'rules'. Also included are classic summer hits such as Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys and, of course, Happy by Pharrell Williams - all of which Dr Renfrew advises should be ‘played loud with friends and or family’.

Dr Claire Renfrew said: “Music is essential to positive mental health and wellbeing and is seen as a fundamental element of being human. Listening to our favourite songs also alleviates, manages, and reduces stress and can be an effective tool in relation to mindfulness. It can also trigger the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward”

Fiat 600 is a compact SUV, designed for both city lovers and families who love the great outdoors. It is available with fully electric and hybrid powertrains and is cool and beautiful. With a length of just over four metres, it provides comfortable space for a family of five and has best-in-class cabin storage.

FIAT also recently announced the reintroduction of its £1,500 E-Grant for the 600e, alongside the fully electric Fiat 500e, Abarth 500e and Abarth 600e. The saving means the on the road price for the 600e now starts at £30,035. The Fiat 600 Hybrid is priced from just £25,360.

The award-winning Grande Panda arrives in UK showrooms later this summer. Designed in Turin, Grande Panda is a stylish addition to the FIAT range and is notable for its convenient size, clean lines and organised interior. It draws inspiration from the iconic Fiat Panda of the 1980s and offers an ideal mobility solution for both families and urban life.

Grande Panda is available with a choice of fully electric or hybrid powertrains and on-the-road prices start at just £18,035.
