FIAT reveals UK’s best city Christmas lights driving trails

FIAT is lighting up the festive season with a curated driving guide to the UK’s most dazzling Christmas light displays.
From London’s sparkling streets to Edinburgh’s winter wonderland, this Christmas the Italian brand is inviting everyone to embrace the joy of the season and discover some of the country’s most enchanting festive displays.
FIAT has gone the extra mile to uncover the brightest hotspots in five cities across the UK: London, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh. Offering twinkling lights, festive markets, and passing iconic landmarks such a London’s Oxford Street or Liverpool’s Knowsley Safari Park, FIAT’s guide is designed to inspire unforgettable seasonal adventures.
The festive driving routes have been created in partnership with five local content creators. These routes are publicly available via Google maps so any driver living near or exploring the cities can simply and easily experience the ultimate festive drive via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Victoria Hatfield, marketing director of FIAT UK, said:
“Christmas is all about bringing people together and sharing joy. That’s why we have created this guide to our favourite festive light displays across the UK – from the driving seat of the Fiat 500e Convertible and the Fiat 600e.
“We hope these hotspots inspire people to get out there, celebrate and make memories with their loved ones.”
Each content creator was given one of two stylish electric icons to curate the route – the Fiat 500e Cabrio and the Fiat 600e. Offering the ultimate in Italian style, this all-electric pair also ensure any festive road trips will be sustainable and avoid any low emission zone charges.
With a WLTP range of up to 199 miles, the 500e Cabrio is capable of exploring all the festive routes without needing a top-up, although every trail features conveniently located charging spots for additional peace of mind. With its powered fabric folding roof, the 500e Cabrio also offered occupants the opportunity of panoramic views of the Christmas lights.
The Fiat 600e has a WLTP range of up to 254 miles, while its spacious five-seat interior allows owners to bring friends and family along to see the festive sights. And with a range of vibrant paint finish options, the 600e is as bright and joyful as any of the light trails.

London: A festive drive through the capital’s iconic streets
London is home to some of the country’s most renowned Christmas light displays, and this driving route takes in some of the highlights including from the iconic arches of Oxford Street and Regent Street to the grandeur of Fortnum & Mason on Piccadilly. The trail also takes in the charm of Marylebone Village and Covent Garden’s famous Christmas tree before ending at Kew Gardens, where you can get out of your car to enjoy the venue’s breathtaking walking light trail should you choose. With convenient charging points at the start and end of the journey, drivers can enjoy the lights worry-free.

Edinburgh: A Winter wonderland in Scotland’s historic heart
Scotland’s capital offers a truly enchanting festive experience. FIAT’s route begins with the spectacular Castle of Light at Edinburgh Castle before winding past The Mound’s iconic Norwegian Christmas tree and the bustling Christmas Market in Princes Street Gardens. It also visits the elegant illuminations on George Street and The Dome, while Christmas at the Botanics delivers a dazzling finale. Charging stations are easily accessible near Princes Street and George Street.

Manchester: Northern lights and festive delights
Manchester shines bright during the holiday season, and this route captures its festive heart. Start near New Cathedral Street to pass people doing their Christmas shopping under twinkling lights, before heading for the lights of Albert Square and Picadilly Gardens. For something magical, end your car journey at Dunham Massey and RHS Bridgewater where you can explore the illuminated walking trails. Charging points are available near Picadilly Gardens and close to Dunham Massey.

Liverpool: Waterfront wonders and illuminated adventures
Liverpool’s waterfront becomes a canvas of light at Christmas. Begin with a stroll through the lit-up shops on Church Street, glowing with festive energy, before hopping in your FIAT and heading to marvel at the breathtaking “Lights Before Christmas” installation at Liverpool Cathedral. Continue to drive along past the Royal Albert Dock Light Trail and the Christmas Market at St. George’s Plateau, before ending with an illuminated adventure at Knowsley Safari Park. Convenient charging stations can be found near the city centre and Albert Dock.

Cardiff: Welsh warmth and sparkling streets
Cardiff sparkles with seasonal charm, Christmas light stop-offs, and FIAT’s route showcases its most magical sights. Begin at Cardiff Castle and the Winter Wonderland on City Hall Lawn before wandering through the dazzling walking light trail at Bute Park, set against the backdrop of the castle grounds. Then hop in your car to explore the Cardiff Christmas Market along The Hayes and St John Street for artisanal gifts and treats, before heading to Central Square to admire the striking light projections outside Cardiff Central Station. Finish with a drive through the city centre’s illuminated streets, including Queen Street and Westgate Street. Convenient parking and charging points are available near Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, and The Hayes so you can feel free to get out and take in the festivities on foot.
