DS AUTOMOBILES CLOSES ITS FORMULA E CHAPTER WITH A MAGNIFICENT VICTORY

• In DS Automobiles’ final Formula E race, Taylor Barnard claimed the first victory of his career in the series in London

The first premium brand to enter the championship back in Season 2, DS Automobiles contested its final ever Formula E race in London on Sunday. It will undoubtedly live on in the memory, with Taylor Barnard taking victory after a flawlessly executed race.

An excellent sixth in qualifying, the young Briton made full use of the potential of his DS E-TENSE FE25 around the circuit laid out in the heart of the ExCeL exhibition centre. Thanks to a strategy perfectly executed by the team, the DS PENSKE driver struck the right balance between energy management and maintaining a strong pace. Running in third place for much of the race, Taylor Barnard made two decisive overtakes in the closing laps to seize the lead and claim the first Formula E victory of his career. At 22, he also becomes the youngest winner in the history of the all-electric series.

Starting from 14th on the grid, Maximilian Günther had to settle for 11th place at the chequered flag. While he would naturally have hoped to end the season on a stronger note, the German can take great satisfaction from the performances he delivered with DS PENSKE over the course of two seasons. With the Franco-American team, he secured two victories and two pole positions.

With this final race in London, DS Automobiles brings a magnificent chapter in its Formula E sporting history to a close. After 11 years competing at the highest level, against some of the world’s biggest manufacturers, the French brand leaves the championship with the most impressive record in the series: two Teams’ and Drivers’ title doubles, 19 victories, 56 podium finishes, 26 pole positions, 2,030 points scored and a record seven podium finishes in the Teams’ Championship. In addition, DS Automobiles contributed this year to Stellantis securing third place in the Manufacturers’ Championship.

“Starting from 14th, I expected a very eventful race, and that certainly proved to be the case, with plenty of battles going on all around me. I still managed to gain a few places to finish 11th, just outside the points. Together with the team, we gave everything we had to end on a positive note. For DS Automobiles, it is a magnificent way to bring its journey in the championship to a close, and I’m very happy to have been able to experience these final moments of joy.”
