New Citroën ë-Berlingo Van has been named ‘Electric Van of the Year’ at the What Van? Awards 2022, adding to the already impressive number of accolades Citroën’s ë-LCV range has won so far this year. The class-leading credentials of the mid-size ë-Dispatch Electric were also recognised – as it scooped the What Van? ‘Medium Van of the Year’ award.
New ë-Berlingo Van Electric is the latest model to join Citroën’s all-electric ë-LCV line-up and features a 50kWh battery offering up to 171 miles of range (WLTP). It supports up to 100kW rapid charging with an 80% charge taking just 30 minutes. New ë-Berlingo Van’s 4.4m3 load capacity is identical to Diesel variants of Berlingo Van, while a maximum payload of up to 800kg means ë-Berlingo Van meets the needs of many fleets and SME users. Citroën is currently one of a very small number of manufacturers able to offer fleets and businesses a battery electric option across its entire LCV model portfolio.
The annual What Van? Awards are decided by a panel of expert judges with decades of combined experience in the light commercial vehicle sector. The winners of the 2022 awards were announced at a ceremony in London earlier today (Thursday 9 December, 2021).
James Dallas, Editor of What Van?, said: “Packed with innovative features, the versatile ë-Berlingo Van combines refinement with practical load-carrying capability. A driving range of more than 170 miles and a rapid charging option make the ë-Berlingo a compelling proposition for businesses operating compact vans, both in urban environments and beyond city limits.”
Citroën ë-Dispatch Electric was the brand’s first new-generation ë-LCV model. Its success continues as the model represents a competitive, practical and comfortable zero-emissions option in the medium van class. Available with either a 50kWh or 75kWh battery, ë-Dispatch Electric offers up to 205 miles (WLTP) of range. The van provides drivers with a maximum load volume of 6.6m3 and a payload of up to 1,004kg.
James Dallas added: “The Citroën ë-Dispatch inherits the refinement and load-carrying capability of its proven Diesel sibling. The electric version is even better to drive, and rapid charging plus a range of more than 200 miles with the larger of two batteries available has banished range anxiety and convinced growing numbers of operators that switching to the ë-Dispatch makes sense environmentally, economically and operationally.”
Alongside Citroën’s core ë-LCV range, Ami Cargo Electric – the brand’s new payload-carrying quadricycle, which is set to launch in the UK in 2022 – was ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Editor’s Choice’ category. Designed as a ‘last mile’ delivery solution for urban areas, Ami Cargo Electric has a payload of up to 140kg and a maximum load capacity of 400-litres. The vehicle can be fully charged in just three hours and is capable of 46 miles of range.
Since Wednesday 27 October this year, businesses in the UK have been able to secure their very own Ami Cargo Electric models with a £250 refundable reservation fee. For more information, or to make a reservation please follow this link.
Eurig Druce, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, said: “A growing number of businesses and fleets are switching to more sustainable methods of transportation, with electric vans helping to play a key role in this transition. The recognition from What Van? today, for both ë-Berlingo Van and ë-Dispatch, is a huge endorsement for the capability, affordability and breadth of offering within the Citroën ë-LCV range. Citroën is proud to be one of the few brands in the UK able to offer fleets an electric variant across its entire van line-up.”
