The New Citroën C5 Aircross has been selected as one of seven finalists for the 2026 Car of the Year (COTY) award, one of Europe's most prestigious automotive prizes, chosen from a list of 35 contenders.
Nomination for the 2026 Car of the Year (COTY) award is a testament to the work of Citroën teams with the new generation C5 Aircross, which offers families a more assertive and modern style, a practical choice of electrified energy, more space on board and greater peace of mind, faithful to the brand's promise of comfort and innovation.
Launched in 1963, the Car of the Year award is organised by a jury of 59 motoring journalists from 23 European countries. All models, regardless of size or range, compete in the same category. The jury members select the model that brings the most distinction to their market territory. Each jury member evaluates the competing models according to demanding criteria: innovation, design, comfort, safety, performance, value for money and contribution to sustainable development.
The jury members were impressed by the profound evolution of the New C5 Aircross, which has improved in every respect and taken on a new dimension in the highly competitive C-segment SUV market. Its powerful and muscular design, while remaining sleek and fluid, incorporates a host of features to enhance aerodynamics.
True to Citroën's philosophy, the New C5 Aircross offers a comfortable travel experience, thanks to its generous interior space, immense room in the second row and boot capacity that remains the same regardless of the powertrain. On board, the driver and passengers enjoy a true high-tech cocoon, with progressive hydraulic cushion suspension, Advanced Comfort seats and a modernised dashboard featuring a large, intuitive and ergonomic ‘Cascade’ touchscreen. In addition, the New C5 Aircross offers enhanced driving peace of mind thanks to the latest generation of driver assistance technologies such as Citroën Matrix LED headlights and the Drive Assist 2.0 Pack.
Designed to meet all needs, the New C5 Aircross offers a choice of several electrified powertrains, setting new standards in freedom of movement:
- A versatile Hybrid version offering over 590 miles of range (WLTP combined cycle)
- A Plug-in Hybrid version offering over 62 miles of electric range in urban conditions and a combined range of nearly 683 miles
- An affordable Electric version offering up to 322 miles (WLTP)
- And in the coming weeks, a 100% Electric version with a long range of nearly 422 miles (undergoing homologation)
Developed in France and assembled at the Stellantis plant in Rennes, the New C5 Aircross fully embodies Citroën's industrial know-how and expertise.
