New Citroën Ami opens for orders in France on Tuesday, 6 May. New Ami was revealed at the Paris Motor Show sporting an a fresh design that makes it more appealing and mature. Agile, with an electric range of 46 miles and rechargeable in 4 hours from a 3kWh charger. New Citroën Ami retains the characteristics that have made it a success for the past five years. It’s simple, affordable, accessible, and suitable for drivers of all ages. Now featuring a more expressive design and available in the new Night Sepia colour, launched at the end of last year, Ami can be customised with three new colour packs: Spicy, Icy and Minty, so that everyone can choose the Ami that suits their style.

The range has been expanded with the arrival of the New Ami Buggy, inspired by the Ami Buggy vision concept. Previously a limited edition, it is now possible for everyone to enjoy their travels aboard a vehicle with even more character. With its bold look, it's perfect for fun, playful, leisure-oriented mobility. Ami Buggy is also available in Palmeira, an acid-tinted version of the standard buggy.

An expanded range for the leader in electric micro-mobility

When it launched five years ago, Ami sparked intrigue and interest before becoming a social phenomenon. Now on sale in 18 markets and with 75,000 units sold, it has had a lasting impact on the urban, suburban, and rural landscape. It is the leader in electric micro-mobility in Europe. Ami is a safer and more comfortable alternative to other forms of micro-mobility, such as two-wheelers or scooters, and more reliable than public transport in certain areas.

Ami has reinvented the world of quadricycles by introducing a solution for clean urban mobility. With its innovative architecture, where symmetry plays an essential role in its design, it measures just 2.41m and with a turning circle of just 7.20m. The Ami can be used in some countries from the age of 14, without a driving licence, is safe, protects occupants from the elements, accommodates two people, and is easy to handle. With a top speed of 28mph and a range of 46 miles, it is perfect for everyday needs and can be recharged in 4 hours using a 3kWh charger.

Ami has changed the lives of many by bringing freedom and independence. Since its launch, the Ami range has continued to expand, thus bringing greater independence:

  • An Ami for everyday use
  • Ami Cargo kit, developed for professionals looking for load capacity, while keeping a second seat available when needed
  • Ami for All, designed to give people with reduced mobility greater independence
  • New Ami Buggy, a trendy, leisure-oriented version of its predecessor

A whole new design for a whole new state of mind

Identical in size to the first generation, New Ami has a refreshed front and rear fascia. Its headlamps are now raised at the base of the windscreen and encircled by black decoration, giving it a more expressive look and a new balance to the front end. The headlights are linked by a capsule, presenting the brand's new logo in shade André Red. This new embossed capsule takes the form of a broad smile, reinforcing Ami's jovial and good-natured side. The lower part loses its roundness in favour of sharper edges that create bumpers on the sides. In front of the wheels, they form cubes reminiscent of Lego pieces that act as protective bumpers at the four corners of Ami.

These developments at the front are mirrored for the rear. Symmetry is a fundamental to Ami, designed to keep costs down by reducing investment. The doors, front and rear fascia, wings, windscreen pillars and rear windscreens are all made from the same moulds, making a major contribution to the car's originality.

The sides of the car also feature moulded grooves in the front right and rear left wings, a nod to the illustrious 2CV from 1948, with which it shares the same philosophy of simplicity and ease of use, making it accessible to many people.

New Colour Pack for Ami

Ami offers several customisation and adaptation options, so buyers can create an Ami to suit their style. New Ami range includes three colour packs in red, white, and green, called Ami Spicy, Ami Icy, and Ami Minty. These colour packs, which can be purchased online or through the retail network, are delivered directly to customers to be fitted by them.

When it comes to exterior styling, the colour packs include four coloured wheel trims and a set of decals that can be applied to the door sill capsules and the rear quarter window. The design theme of enclosed shapes seen at the front also appears in several graphic details along the sides of New Ami. For example, the wheel trims feature a checkerboard pattern of rounded squares, while the rear quarter window sticker uses similar motifs. These modern shapes echo visual trends from contemporary art and digital design, highlighting Ami’s appeal to younger drivers.

For added comfort, these colour packs include three coloured dashboard storage boxes, a coloured bag hook mounted on the passenger side, a pair of coloured floor mats, a pair of coloured door nets and a central partition net.

The entertainment package includes a smartphone holder, the MyConnect Box, which uses the MyCitroën smartphone app to display key vehicle information (charge level, mileage, charging time, and onboard documentation), and the MyAmi Play app, which brings together features such as navigation, radio, music apps and phone calls. This app is controlled via a button on the steering wheel called the Citroën switch.

A new Ami Buggy in the range

New Ami Buggy stands apart from the standard Ami with its more intrepid, adventurous character, designed especially for the leisure market.

With no doors and a convertible roof, you can experience your leisure time immersed in nature, offering a feeling of freedom. In place of doors, black metal hoops mounted on hinges enhance the feeling of openness; however, for all-weather use, zipped door covers are available as an accessory to insulate occupants from the elements. These covers can be rolled up and easily stored when not in use. The sunroof is protected by a soft top, which is easy to use, so Ami Buggy can be enjoyed while experiencing the elements.

Ami Buggy features a black spoiler at the rear for a sportier look. Its 14-inch steel wheels have a gold finish, complemented by a black centre adorned with a chevron. Also, the logo has been refreshed in a bold new yellow.

New Ami Buggy is also available in a fresh, alternate version, Ami Buggy Palmeira, featuring an energising yellow colour pack. Inside, it includes three coloured storage boxes, a coloured bag hook, a pair of coloured floor mats, a pair of coloured door nets, a central partition net, a smartphone holder, and the MyConnect Box with MyAmi Play, which connects your smartphone to the vehicle. On the outside, it features bespoke decals for the rear quarter window and wheel arches.

The pack is rounded out by Andy, a tiny robot mascot, who perfectly captures New Ami Buggy’s playful spirit. This figurine fits right on the dashboard and keeps you company on every journey, nodding along to the rhythm of the road.

Ami Cargo Kit: A clever modular solution for professionals

The cargo kit is an ideal solution for professionals on the go or handling last-mile deliveries. Available as an aftersales accessory, it allows quick conversions between the loading area and passenger space, effectively meeting a wide variety of mobility and usage needs for professionals.

This kit is simple to install. The first part, made up of two sections, creates a vertical partition between the driver and passenger areas. The second part, made up of four sections, unfolds from the passenger seat to the footwell, creating a practical loading platform while protecting the seat. The cargo kit gives you a load capacity of up to 200 litres for parcels or miscellaneous items under the storage net, and up to 340 litres overall in the vehicle. When not in use, the kit folds neatly into a dedicated bag that fits behind the seats, allowing Ami to quickly revert to its original two-seat configuration.

Ami for All: Restoring mobility to people with disabilities

Developed with PIMAS, a specialist in wheelchair accessible vehicle conversions, Ami for All aims to restore independence, autonomy and freedom to people with reduced mobility. Its compact size makes it agile, easy to handle, and easy to park. Its minimal footprint makes it easy to manoeuvre and handle a wheelchair nearby. The door's height makes it easy to move in and out of the vehicle.

The adaptation involves modifying the hinge of the driver's door to increase the opening angle, allowing the wheelchair user to position themselves parallel to the sill of the passenger compartment. A removable and retractable shelf, paired with a strap fixed to the top of the door's interior frame, enables customers to slide from their wheelchairs into the driver’s seat. Once onboard, all that's left to do is remove the wheelchair's wheels, which can be stored in the footwell and secured using a specially designed strap. The folded wheelchair frame can then be placed on the passenger seat and secured with an additional safety belt. If the user is accompanied, optional storage can be added via a luggage rack, helping to free up space inside.

For ease of use while driving, a steering wheel ball is installed for a better grip. In addition to the pedals, an intuitive mechanical lever is provided for manual control of both accelerator and brake functions. The pedals remain fully functional at all times.
