Citroën’s recently launched flagship – New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV – has been named overall ‘Car of the Year’, and ‘Best Medium SUV’ in the 2019 DieselCar & EcoCar ‘Top 50’.

New C5 Aircross SUV impressed the panel of judges with its unique, family-friendly design, numerous personalisation options and exceptional comfort delivered through the Advanced Comfort seats and Progressive Hydraulic Cushion® suspension system.

New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV also grabbed the ‘Best Medium SUV’ title, taking the plaudits for its class-leading boot space and interior modularity, thanks to the three independently adjustable rear seats.

In addition, the multi-award winning Grand C4 SpaceTourer was crowned ‘Best Medium MPV’ for the fourth year in a row. To round off the Citroën checklist, C4 Cactus claimed 30th place overall.

This ‘Top 50’ rundown represents the best and most accomplished cars on sale in the UK this year. The winners are selected using a rigorous and all-inclusive scoring system to guarantee that the front-runners are truly the top cars in each segment.

Ian Robertson, Editor and Publisher of DieselCar & EcoCar Magazine, commented: “We are pleased to announce New Citroën C5 Aircross as ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Best Medium SUV’ in this year’s DieselCar & EcoCar Awards.

“Famed for its superminis and MPVs, Citroën now has a world-beating SUV in its range. In keeping with its Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, the French manufacturer has also ensured the unique suspension and ultra-comfortable seat design take the sting out of driving over rough roads. There are enough personalisation options to see every owner’s tastes met too, and the flexible rear seating means you can adjust the luggage space from 580 to a massive 720 litres. As SUVs continue to capture the public’s imagination, it’s New C5 Aircross that rules supreme in the DieselCar & EcoCar Top 50 in 2019.“

Souad Wrixen, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, observed: “We are honoured that New C5 Aircross SUV has been named ‘Car of the Year’ in such a prestigious list of competitor cars. To have three models from our range recognised in the ‘Top 50’ is a great achievement for us.

“New C5 Aircross is a next-generation SUV that completes the newly transformed Citroën range. We pride ourselves on designing models that are inspired by our customers, which is why comfort, personalisation and modularity are so important to us. We’re delighted to see the Citroën design team’s hard work paying off in such rewarding style.”
