WhichEV has just announced its award winners for 2021 – Citroën wins two top awards and gains an ‘honourable mention’ in another key category.

Citroën's pioneering AMI – which was recently confirmed for sale in the UK – is the recipient of the 'EV Innovation Award' in this year's WhichEV Awards. The 'EV Innovation Award' from WhichEV continues an impressive run of form for Citroën AMI, following on from its success in the GQ Car Awards 2021, where it was named 'Microcar of the Year', and in the Auto Express New Car Awards 2021, where it received the annual 'Technology Award'.

Scheduled to launch in the UK in spring 2022, Citroën AMI was introduced by the brand as a response to the challenges of future urban mobility, with a focus on environmental awareness. An innovative 100%-electric mobility solution with a range of up to 46 miles and a 5.5 kWh battery, Citroën AMI provides inner-city drivers with a new and efficient, zero emissions method of personal transportation.

In addition to AMI’s win, Citroën ë-Dispatch Electric is awarded with the prestigious 'Best Electric Van' accolade. Citroën ë-Dispatch is available with either a 50kWh or a 75kWh battery, with the latter offering up to 205 miles (WLTP) of range from a single charge. The van provides drivers with a maximum load volume of 6.6m3, thanks to the Moduwork® front passenger seat that allows longer items to be carried. Citroën ë-Dispatch Electric has a payload of up to 1,002kg. New ë-Dispatch supports up to 100kW rapid charging, with an 80% re-charge taking just 30 minutes on 50kWh versions and 45 minutes on 75kWh models.

Citroën ë-Dispatch Electric operators are also able to benefit from future financial savings, as Citroën ë-Dispatch will remain exempt from future Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emissions payments in cities across the UK.

Finally, New Citroën ë-C4 Electric has received an honourable mention in WhichEV's 'Best Crossover EV' category. Powered by a 50kWh battery, and a smooth136hp electric motor, New ë-C4 Electric has an impressive WLTP electric range of up to 217 miles from a full charge. It can also support CCS rapid charging for an 80% re-charge in just 30 minutes with a 100kW rapid charger. For regular home charging, a Type-2 charging cable is included as standard, allowing a regular 7.4kW charger to reach a 100% charge in seven hours and 30 minutes.

Commenting on the awards, Andrzej Bania, Co-Founder of WhichEV, said: "In typical Citroën style, the AMI represents not just innovation within the genre of electric cars, but a rethinking of e-mobility.

“Citroën e-Dispatch Driver Edition is probably the best electric van on the market right now. With 5.8 cubic metres of cargo space and tons of handy time-saving features, plus a smooth drive and up to 205 miles of range with the 75kWh battery option, this is the first commercial EV that will bring pressure on tradesmen to switch."

Eurig Druce, Managing Director of Citroën UK, said: "I was very pleased to hear that Citroën has once again been recognised for the quality and excellence of our electrified products.

"The recognition we have received from WhichEV shows the sheer breadth of 100%-electric vehicles offered by the Citroën brand, with awards for our recently announced two-seat mobility solution, AMI, all the way up to our mid-size ë-Dispatch van. This is offering is set to expand still further with all Citroën models to be offered with an electrified powertrain by 2025."
