CITROËN UK CELEBRATES 35 AWARD WINS IN BUMPER 2019

2019 – Citroën’s centenary – was a truly memorable year for the French brand in the UK. The flagship New C5 Aircross SUV was launched in January, two striking new concept cars (Ami One and 19_19 Concept) were showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the brand won 35 UK award titles during the year – recognising almost every model and a number of the brand’s innovative features and technologies. Linda Jackson was the recipient of two prestigious honours too.

The year started with an impressive haul of five awards in January, including titles from What Car?, DieselCar & EcoCar magazine, Company Car Today and the Great British Fleet Awards.

The year continued as it had begun, with a steady stream of titles awarded to the brand’s products. Highlights included ‘Small SUV of the Year’ for C3 Aircross Compact SUV at the Auto Express Awards, ‘Van of the Year’ for Berlingo Van in the Company Van Today Awards, and New C5 Aircross SUV was named the winner of the ‘Comfort Award’ at the at the carwow Car of the Year Awards. The carwow award recognised New C5 Aircross SUV for its unrivalled driver and passenger comfort, achieved thanks to Citroën’s Advanced Comfort Programme®.

Berlingo Van was the most decorated model, with a total of 12 wins throughout the year. The passenger version of Berlingo was awarded four titles and both C5 Aircross SUV and C3 Aircross took three trophies each. C4 SpaceTourer and Grand C4 SpaceTourer won four awards between them, whilst C1, C4 Cactus Hatch, Berlingo Electric and Citroën Dispatch were also recognised in 2019.

The brand also received accolades for a number of its innovative designs and technologies, such as ‘Safety Technology of the Year’ in the First Car Awards 2019 for ConnnectedCAM Citroën® and the ‘Technology Award’ in the Company Van Today Awards 2019 for Berlingo Van’s Overload Indicator.

Karl Howkins, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, commented: “2019 was a pivotal year for us as a brand as we marked our 100-year anniversary, so it seems fitting that we also marked it with a number of excellent awards recognising the hard work that goes into designing and creating all of our vehicles. It was fantastic to receive so many awards right across the range, including those recognising key brand pillars such as technology and comfort. We will continue the hard work into 2020 and hope for a similar haul this year.”

2020 has already started with real promise for the Citroën brand in the UK, with Berlingo Van being recognised as ‘Small Van of the Year’ in the 2020 Company Car and Van Awards, whilst at this week’s annual What Car? Car of the Year Awards, Berlingo retained its crown as ‘MPV of the Year’.
