CITROËN REVEALS THE STRANGEST THINGS TRANSPORTED IN A VAN

• Citroën has found a statue of a ghost, a full-size church organ and a giant model of a crocodile, amongst the ‘strangest’ things to be transported in a van in 2024
• Pianos, beds and aquariums were cited as the most commonly shipped items, according to the research

New research commissioned by Citroën UK has found that a statue of a ghost, a full-size church organ and a giant plastic model of a crocodile, were amongst items that drivers listed as the strangest things they had transported in a van this year.

Other items making the list of weird and wonderful things transported in a van include a bundle of enormous teddy bears on their way to a funfair, a mysterious black box with a repetitive beeping sound coming from it, giant fruit sculptures and a shipment of dinosaur skeletons which caught the eyes of bemused onlookers.

The study of 2,000 UK drivers, including van drivers, was conducted by Citroën UK to understand the varied reasons how vans are put to use across the country.

The data also highlighted some of the more typical items that call for van transportation, including pianos, beds and fish tanks. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most common reason given for hiring a van was moving house (54%) and over a quarter (28%) of drivers say they have had to hire a van to collect items from online marketplaces.
