Alfa Romeo has paid tribute to the legend of the Quadrifoglio by creating a limited edition version to mark its 100th anniversary.  Just 100 exclusive units of the new Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario will be produced, with enhanced power, additional equipment and exclusive touches as standard.

On 15 April, 2023, exactly 100 years will have passed since an indelible symbol of Alfa Romeo performance, the Quadrifoglio, made its debut. The four-leaf clover worn on the race-winning RL of Ugo Sivocci in that year’s Targa Florio was the start of a legend. On this special anniversary, Alfa Romeo is introducing exclusive limited-edition versions of its two current cloverleaf cars. Limited to just 100 units for both the Giulia and Stelvio, the Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario editions are the result of one hundred years of research into technical excellence.

Technical purity and technology combine to place the new limited-edition models at the top of their respective segments, with best-in-class handling and power-to-weight ratio creating a direct and one-of-a-kind Alfa Romeo driving experience.

The Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario: 100 units, more power and superior technical refinement

The Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario editions are the result of one-hundred years of racing and production vehicle development. The 2.9-litre Bi-Turbo V6 engine in both cars has been enhanced to produce 520hp and this extra power is combined with a mechanical self-locking differential. With specific tuning derived from the development of the Giulia GTA, this important new addition improves the car's behaviour and traction, optimising torque transfer, while increasing stability, agility and cornering speeds.

Best in class driving dynamics, resulting from the use of ultra-light materials such as aluminium for the engine and carbon-fibre for the driveshaft, bonnet, spoiler and side skirts. On the Giulia, active aerodynamics remains with the carbon front splitter: when activated it controls the quality of airflow passing under the vehicle, increasing stability and performance. The standard Akrapovič exhaust system results in an unmistakable soundtrack for both cars.

The 100th Anniversario models are updated with the new '3+3' headlights, with adaptive Full-LED Matrix technology that offer anti-glare and an adaptive driving beam for optimal lighting in all conditions. Dark five-hole 19-inch lightweight sports alloys are found on the Giulia, with 21-inch alloys on the Stelvio. Behind the wheels new, exclusive gold brake calipers commemorate the centenary. The same precious hue distinguishes the emblem celebrating 100 years of the Quadrifoglio, positioned on the front wing of both cars. To further enhance their sportiness the grille and mirror caps are finished in naked carbon-fibre. A choice of three body colours are available: Rosso Etna, Verde Montreal and Nero Vulcano.

The same sporty feel can be found in the interiors where there is an exclusive combination of black and Alcantara leather, enhanced by new and exclusive contrast golden stitching and innovative 3D effect carbon-fibre trim for the instrument panel, the central tunnel and the door panels. On the dashboard, the number 100 is stitched in gold next to a golden Quadrifoglio. The steering wheel is upholstered in leather and Alcantara with black stitching and carbon-fibre inserts.

The completely new instrument panel features the telescopic Cannocchiale design and debuts a completely digital 12.3-inch TFT screen, which displays key vehicle information, autonomous driving technologies and driver assistance features.  In addition to the three layouts available on the rest of the Alfa Romeo range (Evolved, Relax and Heritage), the exclusive Race configuration makes its debut on the Quadrifoglio. The Race layout gathers the fundamental information for the driver and displays it centrally, including the rev counter, speedometer and shift light for manual control of the gearbox via the column-mounted paddles. The layout can be customized by placing additional information and performance data in the side dials.

The Giulia and Stelvio 100th Anniversario models will be available to order in the UK in Q2, with pricing being confirmed closer to the time.

The origins of a legend: Quadrofoglio and 100 years of high-performance history

To celebrate this special centenary, the Quadrifoglio is heading back to its native land of Sicily, as Alfa Romeo has chosen the island to be the backdrop for a commemorative photo shoot. After one hundred years, the Quadrifoglio journey has not ended - it continues to evolve, towards a bright future which pays homage to the successes of the past.

A symbol of Italian sportiness, the legendary Quadrifoglio has always been synonymous with the brand’s highest-performing creations. This not only holds true for its racing models, but for its most powerful and exclusive road vehicles as well. On the occasion of its one-hundredth anniversary, the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, home of Alfa Romeo design, has projected its historical logo into the brand’s future while preserving its solidity and elegance with a new chromatic colour scheme.

The Quadrifoglio has been part of the history of Alfa Romeo since the very beginning, starting on 15 April 1923, at the the XIV edition of one of the oldest automobile races in the world, the Targa Florio - the prestigious event which transformed Sicily once a year into Europe’s biggest racing circuit. Intense and incredibly challenging, the race was one of the most important of its time for drivers and manufacturers alike.

That’s why, in 1923, Alfa Romeo placed enormous importance on the Sicilian race, developing a specific Targa Florio version of the straight-six powered RL sports car and recruiting four talented drivers. Ugo Sivocci brought home the win thanks to his skills and a series of fortunate events which would make the choice of the Quadrifoglio (a four-leaf clover) even more meaningful - he had painted the emblem onto the front of his car for good luck. It was a seismic victory for Alfa Romeo, inexorably linking the symbol of the Quadrifoglio to the brand as it would go on to multiple wins in the Targa Florio, Mille Miglia and at Le Mans.

However, it wasn’t long until the lucky symbol soon began to stand out on exclusive road vehicles as well. In fact, the glazed Quadrifoglio badge would make its first appearance on a road vehicle with the Giulia TI Super in 1963 and launch a tradition which still continues today.
