Alfa Romeo has opened orders for the new Tonale, now featuring a refreshed design, an expanded colour palette and a new line-up of trims. The Tonale is available with a choice of hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains: Tonale ibrida and Tonale plug-in ibrida, with prices starting from £37,665 OTR.

The streamlined Tonale line-up is structured to offer both clarity and choice, from the well-equipped entry-level version, the more refined Ti, to the performance focused Veloce and culminating in the exclusive Sport Speciale launch edition.

Every Tonale features the class leading dynamics expected of Alfa Romeo. Perfect weight distribution, the most direct steering in the segment, dedicated Brembo brakes on Veloce and Sport Speciale versions, next-generation brake-by-wire and advanced systems including electronic suspension and Q4 AWD, on plug-in hybrid variants, mean that Tonale offers both style and substance. Technology and comfort are elevated through a fully digital interface with dual 12.3-inch and 10.25-inch displays and wireless connectivity with OTA updates. Tonale can also be fitted with an optional Technology Pack including Level 2 assisted driving, a 360 degree camera and semi-automatic parking.

Powertrains

The Tonale ibrida has a four-cylinder 175hp 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with variable-geometry turbo (VGT), paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive. This latest evolution of the Alfa Romeo 48V hybrid technology enables acceleration from zero to 62mph in 8.5 seconds, with fuel economy of up to 49.6mpg (WLTP combined).

The top of the range Tonale plug-in ibrida delivers 270hp through a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine combined with a 15.5kWh battery and Q4 all-wheel drive. With a zero to 62 mph time of 6.6 seconds, it represents the most powerful and dynamic Tonale. Efficiency is equally impressive, with fuel economy of up to 217.3mpg and an electric-only driving range of up to 38.5 miles (WLTP combined), enabling zero-emissions driving in urban environments.

Specification

The entry-level version of the Tonale offers a strong combination of style, technology and comfort as standard. On the exterior, full LED matrix headlights and taillights with the signature 3+3 design and 17-inch diamond-cut Aerodinamico wheels offer an updated and stylish look. Inside, black fabric and Scuba seats with Biscotto stitching complement the leather steering wheel, while advanced tech includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Safety and comfort technology including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, dual-zone climate control and rearview camera are standard.

The Tonale line-up is now available in an expanded colour palette, offering up to eight distinctive finishes. This includes three new metallic shades: Brera Red, Monza Green and Giallo Ocra. Other metallic options include Montreal Green, Vesuvio Grey and Misano Blue, which are complemented by two solid colours, Alfa Black and Alfa White. This broader selection allows customers to personalise their Tonale, while enhancing its refreshed exterior styling.

Positioned at the heart of the range, Ti trim elevates comfort and sophistication. Gloss black window frames, dark 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a dedicated chrome Ti badge set it apart visually, while the interior offers premium leather seats in red or black with electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and lumbar support. A heated steering wheel enhances comfort, while aluminium paddle shifters offer an even more engaging driving experience. The infotainment is upgraded to the Alfa Connect system with satellite navigation.

At the top of the core range, Veloce sharpens the sporty character of Tonale. Its dynamic look features 19-inch Stile wheels, red Brembo brake calipers and twin chrome tailpipes on the plug-in ibrida version, while its performance is sharpened by Dual-Valve electronic Suspension (DSV).

Completing the line-up is the exclusive launch edition, Tonale Sport Speciale, a celebration of Italian sportiness. Exterior highlights include 20-inch alloy wheels, a gloss-black body kit with silver accents on the side skirts and rear bumper, gloss-black Brembo calipers and distinctive white Alfa Romeo lettering. Inside, black and white Alcantara® seats with white stitching and ambient lighting with unique graphics create a bespoke atmosphere.
