VICTORY FOR SMAL AND A DOUBLE FOR TRAMNITZ OPEN THE ITALIAN F.4 CHAMPIONSHIP POWERED BY ABARTH SEASON

  • A great show on the French track with 37 Tatuus powered by Abarth, with Kirill Smal and Tim Tramnitz coming in victorious, the latter winning two races.
  • Among the rookies, victories for Conrad Laursen, Lorenzo Patrese and Jonas Ried.
  • A great start for Maya Weug, the first girl to come out of the Ferrari Driver Academy, who topped the podium in race 3 in her Iron Lynx single-seater.

Kirill Smal (Prema Powerteam) – the winner of Race 1, and Tim Tramnitz (US Racing) – who took Races 2 and 3 –are the first winners in the 2021 season of the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth. A great show on the French track with 37 single-seaters, powered by a 160-hp Abarth T-Jet engine, strictly derived from the engine used in the road-going Abarth 595 and 695, battled during the three races of the first round this season.

In Race 1, run on a slippery track due to the rain, the race started behind the safety car and the poleman Kirill Smal managed to distance himself during the restart from his competitors Tramnitz and Bearman, who fought for second. Of the rookies, Conrad Laursen (Prema Powerteam) was the winner, ahead of Nikita Bedrin (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Leonardo Bizzotto (BVM Racing).

In the second race on the Paul-Ricard circuit, Tramnitz took advantage of the error made by Oliver Bearman (Van Amersfoort Racing) and sped into victory, despite two safety cars coming onto the track. On the podium, the US Racing German was behind his teammate Luke Browning, and Smal, the winner of race 1. Italian victory among the rookies for Lorenzo Patrese (AKM Motorsport), who finished the race 10th in the overall rankings and first among the rookies ahead of Kacper Sztuka (AS Motorsport) and Marcus Amand (R-ACE GP).

In Race 3 at Le Castellet, Tim Tramnitz took advantage of pole position, distancing himself from his direct competitors. Once again, Bearman did not make a perfect start from the first row and was overtaken, although he made it back up to the second step of podium after Browning made a mistake in the final lap. Third place went to the Russian Vlad Lomko (US Racing), who brilliantly dealt with attacks from Leonardo Fornaroli (Iron Lynx) who came in fourth at the finish line. Among the rookies, victory was taken by Jonas Ried (BWT Muecke Motorsport), ahead of the great Maya Weug (Iron Lynx) and Francesco Braschi (Jenzer Motorsport).

The Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth Certified by FIA is scheduled to return to the track from June 3rd to 6th at the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli, where the first group tests of the season will be run.
