THE 7TH SEASON OF ADAC FORMEL 4 KICKS OFF AT THE RED BULL RING
  • The German series’ Tatuus chassis powered by Abarth return to the track on the Austrian circuit for round 1 of the 2021 season
  • Twenty-five drivers in the running for the title, won last year by Jonny Edgar
  • Six events in the 2021 schedule, on the Red Bull Ring, Zandvoort, Nürburgring, Hockenheim and Sachsenring tracks

The 2021 ADAC Formel 4 season kicks off at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. After a few changes to the schedule having postponed its start, the German federation's preparatory series – now in its 7th season – finally takes to the track in the hills of Styria and does so with large numbers and very high quality. There will be 25 Tatuus chassis powered by the 1400-cc, 160-hp Abarth 414TF T-Jet engine lining up on the starting grid for round 1 of the season, with several big names who have proved themselves to be in great shape in the Italian series in the last few weeks. In fact, many teams will be taking part in both the German and Italian series. The two federations have indeed jointly developed a schedule with no clashes, meaning that the teams and drivers can build up experience in a training car that has taken many drivers all the way to Formula 1. The technical package that includes a Tatuus chassis, an Abarth engine and Pirelli tires has been confirmed.

Oliver Bearman (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Tim Tramnitz (US Racing) will be two of the surefire big names, having achieved two wins each in the first 2 rounds of the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth. Moreover, Tramnitz is the reigning series champion among its rookies, and is a contender for the title after taking 4th place overall last season. Alongside the German in the US Racing team, Vlad Lomko and Luke Browning will take to the track, while Bearman will have by his side his teammates Joshua Dufek, Nikita Bedrin, Cenyu Han and Bence Valint. Also on the track will be the Iron Lynx drivers Leonardo Fornaroli, Pietro Armanni and Maya Weug, a surefire big name among the rookies in the colors of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Conversely, BWR Motorsport has the Brit Taylor Barnard and Valentino Catalano, while Prema Powerteam will be starting with a quartet made up of Kirill Smal, Sebastian Montoya, Hamda Al Qubaisi and Conrad Laursen. Kicking off the season will also be the French R-ACE GP drivers, Sami Meguetounif, Marcus Amand and Victor Bernier, as well as Switzerland’s Michael Sauter with the Sauter Engineering + Design team. Four points for the Jenzer Motorsport team, which will take to the track at the Red Bull Ring with Samir Ben, Jorge Garciarce, Francesco Braschi and Santiago Ramos.

The first green light of the season is scheduled for Friday, June 11th at 9:40 am, with the first practice session, followed by Practice Session 2 at 1:40 pm. Also on Friday will be the first qualifiers of the 2021 season, due to kick off at 6:25 pm. Race 1 gets underway on Saturday 12th at 11:15 am, with race 2 at 5:30 pm. Sunday, June 13th at 11.05 am will see the green flag for the third race on the Red Bull Ring track.
