Two pole positions and two victories for Oliver Bearman in the second round of the German series gave the 16-year-old Van Amersfoort Racing driver an advantage in the standings. First victory for Kirill Smal, Prema Powerteam’s Russian driver, in race 3 with Montoya and Tramnitz on the podium in both the first and the third races. On its home circuit, a hat-trick for Van Amersfoort Racing in race 2 with Bearman ahead of his teammates Dufek and Bedrin.

ONCE AGAIN, ZANDVOORT WAS THE BEARMAN SHOW. DOUBLE WIN FOR THE BRITISH DRIVER AND VICTORY FOR SMAL IN RACE 3 IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE ADAC FORMEL 4 POWERED BY ABARTH
  • Two pole positions and two victories for Oliver Bearman in the second round of the German series gave the 16-year-old Van Amersfoort Racing driver an advantage in the standings.
  • First victory for Kirill Smal, Prema Powerteam’s Russian driver, in race 3 with Montoya and Tramnitz on the podium in both the first and the third races.
  • On its home circuit, a hat-trick for Van Amersfoort Racing in race 2 with Bearman ahead of his teammates Dufek and Bedrin.

Once again, Oliver Bearman (GBR – Van Amersfoort Racing) has won the second round of the ADAC Formel 4 Powered by Abarth Certified by FIA, the German preparatory series using the Tatuus single-seaters powered by the 160-hp Abarth T-Jet engine, strictly derived from the roadgoing engine. The 16-year-old British Van Amersfoort Racing driver, who has already dominated the Italian series, seems intent on a historic double win, something no driver has achieved in the seven previous editions. On the Dutch circuit at Zandvoort, Bearman also displayed his prowess, achieving two pole positions, two victories and a fourth place as well as the fastest lap in the race, consolidating his leadership in the standings. The 16-year-old Brit is now in the lead with 112 points, 40 points ahead of Sebastian Montoya (COL – Prema Powerteam), 42 from Kirill Smal (RUS – Prema Powerteam), 43 from Tim Tramnitz (GER – US Racing) and 45 from Luke Browning (GBR – US Racing). All 4 drivers are within 5 points of each other but are already far and away behind the leader.

In race 1, Bearman started well from the pole followed by Montoya and was not even held back by the restart after the safety car came onto the track as a result of an accident involving Leonardo Fornaroli (ITA – Iron Lynx). Bearman won ahead of the Colombian driver and Tim Tramnitz, who did a good job to keep his accomplished teammate Luke Browning on his tail.

In race 2, it was once again the Brit driving for Van Amersfoort who started from the pole position, flanked by his teammate Joshua Dufek (CH – Van Amersfoort Racing). The two of them managed to get away despite a first safety car having to come onto the track as a result of the exit of Maya Weug (NDL – Iron Lynx). At the restart, there was a battle for the podium in an all-Russian duel between Kirill Smal and Nikita Bedrin (RUS – Van Amersfoort Racing). The winner was the Dutch team’s driver, who managed to take third place before a double entry of the safety car, the first for the exit of Francesco Braschi (ITA – Jenzer Motorsport) from the track, the second for a touch at the restart between Taylor Barnard (GBR – BWR Racing) and Marcus Amand (FRA – R-ACE GP). The Van Amersfoort hat-trick came under safety car conditions, but triumph in their home race is highly gratifying.

In race 3, Montoya failed to take advantage of his pole position and Kirill Smal almost immediately took the lead from the second row. The battle for the top positions was very heated with several overtakes aiming for the podium. In the end, Smal won for the first time in the German series ahead of Montoya, who did a good job to make up lost ground, and of Tim Tramnitz, who managed to stay ahead of a fierce Oliver Bearman. Montoya and Tramnitz came in at the finish line 8th and 4th respectively.

Among the rookies, a double win for Nikita Bedrin, who also managed to take 3rd place overall in race 2 after coming 11th in race 1 and having to withdraw in race 3 due to a touch with Vlad Lomko (RUS – US Racing). In race 3, a first victory for Michael Sauter (GER – Sauter Engineering und Design).

The next round of the ADAC Formel 4 Powered by Abarth Certified by FIA will be from August 6th to 8th at the Nürburgring.

ADAC Formel 4 Powered by Abarth standings: 1. Oliver Bearman (GBR, Van Amersfoort Racing), 112; 2. Sebastian Montoya (COL, Prema Powerteam), 72; 3. Kirill Smal (RUS, Prema Powerteam), 70; 4. Tim Tramnitz (GER, US Racing), 69; 5. Luke Browning (GBR, US Racing), 67.
