Algiers, September 4, 2025 — FIAT presented the Grande Panda, the next model to be produced at the Tafraoui plant, during an event held today at the Jardin d’Essai du Hamma in Algiers, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry of Algeria, Mr. Salem Ahmed Zayed, the FIAT brand CEO, Mr. Olivier François, and the Stellantis Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Middle East & Africa region, Mr. Samir Cherfan.

With the completion of the welding and painting facilities at the Tafraoui site, the first pre-series units of the Grande Panda will be produced in the coming days, ahead of the start of mass production in the following months. This achievement marks the first CKD vehicle ever produced in the history of Algeria’s automotive industry, a milestone for the nation’s industrial sovereignty and for the emergence of a strong, sustainable national ecosystem of suppliers.

Chosen to meet the needs of Algerian families, the Grande Panda will start with a local integration rate of 20% from its production launch, with Stellantis actively engaged in raising this figure above 30% by 2026, two years ahead of the regulatory requirement, thereby reaffirming the group’s long-term commitment to Algeria’s industrial development.

This landmark is the result of a fruitful partnership between Algeria and Stellantis, built on mutual trust and a shared ambition to foster industrial growth, technological transfer, and sustainable mobility for the benefit of the Algerian society.

“The Grande Panda was born from a simple philosophy: listening to global trends without ever losing the essence and the soul of the brand. It perfectly embodies my vision of FIAT: Frugal, Fun, and Family-Friendly. Today, this vision comes to life in Algeria, a strategic country for FIAT where we dominate the industry. And the Grande Panda produced in Oran, thanks to our local Algerian know-how, is destined to be the next successful chapter in this wonderful journey are writing together.” said Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Global CMO of Stellantis.

"Today marks a historic milestone for both Stellantis and Algeria. With the Fiat Grande Panda, we are not only introducing a vehicle designed to serve Algerian households, but also launching the first Completely-Knocked-Down car production in the country’s history. More than just a car, it aims to be a daily companion for Algerian households.
