Durban, South Africa, 11 May 2026 - Stellantis South Africa has announced a partnership with Africa’s Travel Indaba, a flagship South African Tourism Event, to be the exclusive vehicle & transport partner at one of the largest tourism industry events in the World. The event, which is hosted in the Durban ICC is expected to draw over 9,000 visitors and 1,200 exhibitors from across the African tourism industry.

Stellantis, a leading global automaker and provider of innovative mobility solutions, will use its role as the official transport partner for Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026 to drive awareness of how the tourism value chain depends on dependable mobility across urban, regional and remote environments and demonstrate its expertise in providing flexible and multi‑solution mobility models that are essential for tourism operators, SMEs and destination partners.

“The future of tourism requires pragmatic transitions that balance sustainability, infrastructure readiness and affordability. Stellantis brings global mobility expertise adapted to local African contexts,” says Charl Timms, Commercial Director for Stellantis South Africa.

For Stellantis South Africa, the event offers an ideal platform to showcase the various fit-for-purpose transport solutions they offer to the businesses that connect visitors to places, services, and experiences. Peugeot and Citroen commercial vehicles will be displayed throughout the event.

The partnership with Africa’s Travel Indaba comes as South Africa welcomed 10.5 million tourists in 2025, a 17.7% increase from 2024, according to Statistics South Africa.

“Tourism depends on movement, and that looks different from one operator to the next. For some, it’s a passenger vehicle for a weekend route or a family holiday. For others, it’s a fleet that needs to move guests, staff, luggage or supplies dependably, so it’s important to always be mindful of local operating conditions and infrastructure readiness”, says Timms.

“Accessibility and economic participation are central to tourism growth,” says Sithembile Ndaba, Chief Marketing Officer at South African Tourism. “Partnerships with organisations like Stellantis help strengthen the operating environment that supports destination access, trade connections and participation across the sector.”

For small to medium-sized tourism enterprises (SMMEs) the ability to reach customers, serve new routes and manage seasonal demand is critical. A fit for purpose vehicle or fleet solution can affect running costs, guest experience and service consistency across metros, coastal routes, heritage sites, wildlife destinations and rural communities.

“Tourism growth becomes far more inclusive when more businesses can connect to opportunities and communities,” Ndaba says. “Africa’s Travel Indaba is a platform for market access, and ease of tourism flow has a role to play in making that access more practical.”

Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026 takes place from 11 to 14 May 2026 at the Durban International Convention Centre. As a premier annual event on the industry’s calendar, it brings together buyers, tourism businesses, destination partners, government stakeholders and the media.
