Johannesburg, South Africa, 05 March 2026 - Citroën South Africa has confirmed the arrival of the all-new Citroën Basalt, an exciting new model scheduled to go on sale locally at the end of Q1 2026. Representing a fresh interpretation of the modern family vehicle, the Basalt introduces a distinctive SUV-Coupé offering to the local B-segment, combining an elevated stance, dynamic proportions and everyday practicality in true Citroën style.
The Basalt forms part of Citroën’s global C-CUBED programme and reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering vehicles that are Simple, Comfortable, Sustainable and Daring - values that remain central to Citroën's global product strategy.
Positioned between a traditional hatchback and an SUV, the Basalt has been developed for customers seeking the space and presence of an SUV, combined with the efficiency, design appeal and accessibility of a compact passenger vehicle. The model is positioned to appeal to young professionals and growing families seeking a more expressive alternative to conventional offerings, while remaining accessible to own and operate.
