Middle East - Alfa Romeo Celebrates an Unprecedented Trio of Prestigious Awards from EVO Middle East magazine

  • Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifogilo is named 'Sports SUV of the Year' in EVO Middle East magazine's annual awards.
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio wins the 'Super Saloon of the Year' award.
  • Rounding off an unprecedented trio of accolades, Alfa Romeo is also named 'Manufacturer of the Year'.

These are truly inspiring times for Alfa Romeo - the Giulia and Stelvio, stunning new models that see a new page being written for the brand that never ceases to surprise, have received numerous international and regional awards since their launch, and now EVO Middle East magazine has added a further three prestigious awards to the ever-growing list.

Firstly, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the brand's first ever SUV in its 108-year history, and the first SUV to bear the legendary Quadrifoglio badge, has been selected as EVO's 'Sports SUV of the Year'.

"When we think of SUV's, a rewarding or entertaining drive rarely features as an attribute," said EVO. "Yet Alfa Romeo has managed to combine exactly that with the everyday practicality that makes cars such as this so appealing to modern drivers - that it has managed to crack that particular nut with its very first sports utility vehicle is an astonishing achievement, making it a worthy recipient of our Sports SUV of The Year award."

The glory is continued by the Giulia Quadrifoglio, winner of the second award - 'Super Saloon of the Year' - from EVO, who said, "When Alfa Romeo revealed that it was reviving the Giulia name for its new saloon, we all felt that familiar feeling of hope rising once again - then it was revealed that it would be rear wheel drive, and there would be a 500-plus bhp Quadrifoglio version. This had to be it. Alfa was going to deliver the sort of car that its rich back-catalogue so desperately deserved. And we weren't disappointed. The glorious Giulia is a super saloon that's shot through with the soul of a supercar."

And completing the unique trio of awards, Alfa Romeo has also been named 'Manufacturer of the Year' by EVO.

"They say you can't be a true petrol head unless you've owned at least one Alfa Romeo," said EVO. "And now, at last, that undying faith has been repaid by one of the world's most evocative brands - the company knows precisely how to make a car handle, how to make it entertaining and how to make it a thing of beauty. Alfa Romeo is riding the crest of a wave that nobody apart from its rivals wants to end."

Founded in Milan, Italy way back in 1910, five key elements have made Alfa Romeo one of the world's most desirable automotive brands - advanced technology, lightness and efficiency, performance and dynamism, distinctive Italian design and a unique spirit.

These are the essential ingredients to create an Alfa Romeo and which deliver 'la meccanica delle emozioni' ('the mechanics of emotions' in English). This distinctive line, used worldwide in Italian only, pays homage to the homeland where the legend was born over a century ago. And today still, the brand carries Italian-made pride on everyday roads, on the most famous racetracks and in the hearts of millions of enthusiasts.

As a result of continuous innovation, the use of lightweight materials and advanced engine technologies, Alfa Romeo cars are best in class in combining operating efficiency with a level of performance and handling that all add up to pure driving emotion.

The Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models are the standard-bearers of the new Alfa Romeo generation, and both bear the legendary Quadrifoglio badge, which certifies their qualities in terms of class-topping performance, handling and weight/power ratio, specific external and internal features, exclusive powerplants and a genuine Alfa Romeo sound. Both feature all-aluminium 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engines that deliver 510 hp and 600 Nm of torque and are fitted with 8 speed automatic transmissions.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio guarantees thrilling performance: a top speed of 307 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio reaches a top speed of 283 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and recently set a new lap record for its class on the iconic Nürburgring: 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.

The interior of both vehicles is tailored like an exquisite bespoke suit, with craftsmanship and premium materials - carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara. Alfa Romeo has used Alcantara in its interiors since the 1990's with the Alfa Romeo 145, which personified style, craftsmanship and high tech performance.

In the Middle East, in addition to the Stelvio Quadrifoglio and Giulia Quadrifoglio models that are powered by all-aluminium 510hp V6 2.9-litre bi-turbo petrol engines, there are also versions with all-aluminium, 200hp 2.0-litre and 280hp 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo engines.
