AMSTERDAM, 20 April 2026 – SUSTAINera — the Stellantis division dedicated to Circular Economy initiatives — has chosen the international stage of the Milan Design Week 2026 (20-26 April), whose main themes this year are Materiality and Sustainability, to unveil its innovative vision through “The Art of Reuse”. This creative installation engages visitors with powerful visual storytelling experience, spotlighting the value of REUSE and the strategic role of the Circular Economy in reshaping material flows within the automotive sector.
The project is developed in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Art and Design (IAAD), one of the 21 schools within the international AD Education network, a leading European group in design and applied arts disciplines.
Reuse as a form of art and the meaning of the installation
Within the SUSTAINera 4R strategy, Reuse plays a central role alongside Remanufacturing, Repair and Recycle.
Through the “The Art of Reuse” concept, the installation conceived by the Truly Design collective — an internationally renowned Italian artistic group specializing in graphic design, illustration, and painting — elevates used car parts by converting them into a powerful and evocative creation, celebrating Reuse as a true form of art within sustainable and virtuous practices.
The automotive components used in the creation of the artwork – such as grills, doors, body panels - were recovered at the Vehicle Dismantling Center of the SUSTAINera Circular Economy Hub in Mirafiori (Turin) and reinterpreted as unexpected canvases and sculptural elements. Arranged in a vibrant composition, they convey a strong symbolic meaning.
At the center, a circle represents the continuously evolving ecosystem of the Circular Economy, where every element finds new life and renewed value. Bright colors and dynamic shapes express this energy, animating the artwork and creating a sense of movement and regeneration. The multidimensionality and the different graphic motifs aim to evoke the variety of the many parts that make up a vehicle — a bridge between materiality and creative vision. Four diagonal bands stand for the 4R pillars of the SUSTAINera strategy. Outside the circle, the white space remains motionless and lifeless, reinforcing the contrast between linear and circular models.
The idea of giving products a second chance — a new life — is the key message behind the successful “STILL LIFE” communication campaign, which inspired “The Art of Reuse” concept. Though four powerful visuals shot by the photographer Roberto Savio using the still-life photographic technique, the campaign depicts the 4Rs of Circular Economy, illustrating how circular practices extend the lifespan of components, materials, and vehicles, and demonstrates that there can still be life. The full story is available on SUSTAINera social media channels and on the website www.sustainera.com.
In this way, SUSTAINera engages a broad audience through the language of art and design, demonstrating how the Circular Economy can move beyond its technical dimension to promote a culture of sustainability capable of generating value for People and for the Planet.
The installation is part of a broader immersive exhibition created by Truly Design, open to the public from 20th to 26th April, showcased within the 10th Isola Design Festival, set in the evocative spaces of Fondazione Riccardo Catella, in the heart of Fuorisalone — the vibrant city‑wide program of design events running in parallel with Milan Design Week.
Strengthening the Global Reuse Ecosystem
The activation at Design Week aims to raise awareness of the essential role of Reuse in the automotive sector, highlighting how it responds to the growing customers' need for affordable and reliable car repair and maintenance solutions. Through SUSTAINera’s Reuse aftermarket offer, customers can access a wide range of authentic, multi-brand, fully inspected and functional used parts — priced up to 70% less than new parts.
In parallel, the initiative highlights the strong momentum behind SUSTAINera’s Reuse pillar, as an important driver of ongoing operational and commercial milestones. In 2025, the SUSTAINera Reuse business recorded a remarkable 51% growth, driven by the strong online performance on the B‑Parts e‑commerce platform across Europe and North America, and by the sales of used parts from the Brazilian Dismantling Center via physical store and digital channels.
The global expansion of the Reuse eco-system continues to accelerate with the recent announcement of the third Stellantis Dismantling Center. This new facility will join the Italian factory in Turin and the Brazilian site in São Paulo, confirming Stellantis cutting-edge position in end-of-life vehicle management, providing a tactical source of original, multi-brand, fully functional reusable parts, as well as improving recycling operations.
In parallel, SUSTAINera is expanding through new digital sales channels on eBay in addition to B-Parts, offering original used parts directly from the Italian Dismantling center of the Circular Economy Hub in Mirafiori, Turin.
IAAD Partnership and the Excellence of Made in Italy Circular Economy
The partnership with IAAD highlights SUSTAINera’s commitment to engaging younger generations. To bring this vision to life, an on-site workshop will take place on 21 April within the fifth edition of the Bravery Bar — a well-established and recognized collaborative and educational format developed by IAAD, Accademia Italiana and SAE Institute — acting as a living laboratory that connects ‘brave’ young emerging creative talents with enterprises and professionals. During the workshop, students will be challenged to rethink the creative process and explore circular and upcycling applications in industries such as fashion, accessories, and interior design, using fabric and high-quality leather samples that embody Italian craftsmanship, recovered from Stellantis vehicle-seat production and testing, supplied by SUSTAINera.
The initiative aims to demonstrate how materials once considered waste can be turned into new resources — reborn through creativity, design, and responsible innovation — positioning Reuse as not only a sustainable, but also a premium-quality alternative. This investigation is part of a pilot project through which SUSTAINera is assessing new reuse opportunities for leftover textile and leather materials.
The project reflects the spirit of “The Art of Reuse” concept, resonates with Milan Design Week’s focus on materiality and sustainability, and embraces the Bravery Bar theme “The New Intelligence of Made in Italy”, which celebrates the reinvention of materials and traditions through design‑driven technologies aimed at greater sustainability.
In addition to the workshop, the collaboration with IAAD includes a thesis project focused on designing disruptive digital campaigns to communicate SUSTAINera’s value proposition. Students will have the opportunity as well to visit the manufacturing and technological excellence of the SUSTAINera Circular Economy Hub in Turin — an element of pride within Stellantis’ “Circular Economy Made in Italy”.
The full initiative and exhibition are open to the public at Fondazione Riccardo Catella, Via Gaetano de Castillia 28, Milan.
