Stellantis Motorsport celebrates the delivery of the 100th FR6 car: a new era for modern and accessible rallying.

Created in close collaboration with the FFSA, the FR6 championship — already present in Europe and in America and currently undergoing FIA homologation — is attracting a growing number of participants.   Stellantis Motorsport today reaches a major symbolic milestone with the delivery of the 100th car, only one year after the programme’s launch.   The success of the FR6 programme is built on three fundamental pillars that guide the development of our cars: safety, performance, and accessibility.

  • The success of the FR6 programme is built on three fundamental pillars that guide the development of our cars: safety, performance, and accessibility.

This milestone confirms the immediate and undeniable success of a regulation that marks the return of a rally car designed to the standards of the highest‑performing categories, while embodying a unique balance of safety, performance, and accessibility.

FR6: a concept born from a clear vision

Conceived from the outset by Stellantis Motorsport, the FR6 category was created with a strong ambition: to offer a truly modern rally car that fits seamlessly into the FIA pyramid, while remaining economically sustainable for teams and crews.

This vision is built around three fundamental pillars:

Safety

The FR6 fully adopts the proven safety standards of the Rally4 category, an international benchmark for crew protection. The roll cage, safety structures, and overall design ensure a level of protection that meets the highest requirements of modern rallying.

Performance

With perfectly balanced performance, the FR6 naturally finds its place within the FIA sporting pyramid, forming an essential link between entry‑level categories and higher tiers. It enables drivers to learn and progress in conditions close to top‑level competition.

Accessibility

Accessibility lies at the heart of the FR6 DNA. It is based on:

    • extremely low running costs,
    • the use of standard production tyres,
    • and a large majority of components sourced from Stellantis mass‑production vehicles.

This approach ensures high reliability, simplified operation, and controlled budgets, without compromising driving enjoyment. Developed by the Stellantis Motorsport customer‑racing teams, the FR6 models from the three brands built in the Versailles workshops also feature a circuit‑racing kit, offering unmatched access to all categories and all surfaces. An exceptional versatility.

Immediate sporting and commercial success

With 100 cars delivered in just one year (the Peugeot 208 Racing, Opel Corsa Rally6 and Lancia Ypsilon HF Racing), the FR6 confirms the strong support of the rally community. In France, its success is particularly evident within the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup 6 (SMRC6), where the category has become a benchmark, both for the quality of the fields and the sporting intensity of the events. Nearly 30 cars were entered in the first French round at Le Touquet. Other Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup 6 series have been launched across Europe: in Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Belgium.

Crews, teams, and organisers unanimously praise a regulation that is intelligent, coherent, and sustainable, perfectly aligned with the current realities of motorsport.

A regulation now set to expand internationally

The result of close collaboration with the FFSA, the FR6 regulations are now reaching a decisive new stage. Their effectiveness and success have convinced international authorities: the FIA is preparing to officially adopt this regulatory framework to create a new global category, Rally6.

This international recognition highlights the driving role of Stellantis Motorsport in the evolution of modern rallying and confirms the relevance of a forward‑looking model that combines economic responsibility, safety, and performance.

Stellantis Motorsport has already expanded the category across Europe — notably in Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Hungary — as well as in South America, with deliveries in Uruguay and Peru.

François Wales, Director of Customer Racing

“We are particularly proud to have pioneered this FR6 category, born from a clear vision: to offer a modern, safe, and accessible competition car. Reaching the milestone of 100 deliveries in just one year of commercialisation shows how strongly this format meets the expectations of motorsport stakeholders. This success confirms that our approach — focused on cost control without compromising performance or driving pleasure — resonates widely. The FR6 fully embodies our ambition: to open the doors of competition to as many people as possible while preparing the future of rallying and circuit racing.”
