LANCIA CORSE HF BRINGS 37 YPSILON TO RALLY DI ROMA CAPITALE AND A CLEAR PATHWAY FOR ITALIAN TALENT

• With 37 Lancia Ypsilon entries among the 113 crews entered, almost one competitor in three at Rally di Roma Capitale has chosen the Turin-based brand.
• From the Ypsilon Rally6 to the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, Lancia Corse HF arrives in Rome with a complete motorsport ladder designed to identify, develop and support the next generation of Italian rally talent.
• Seven Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, 28 Ypsilon Rally4 HF and two Ypsilon Rally6 cars will compete at one of Europe’s most prestigious rally events.
• Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi lead Lancia Corse HF’s official FIA ERC campaign, while Davide Pesavento and Francesco Dei Ceci continue their Junior ERC and ERC4 title challenges.
• Eighteen crews will contest the third and fourth round of the Trofeo Lancia, the cornerstone of the brand’s driver development programme and a gateway to a genuine professional opportunity for the Under-35 champion

Lancia Corse HF heads to Rally di Roma Capitale with an unprecedented presence, fielding 37 Lancia Ypsilon across the FIA European Rally Championship, the Italian Rally Championship (CIAR Sparco) and the Trofeo Lancia.

Representing 32.7 per cent of the event’s 113 entries, the figure underlines the growing strength of the Italian manufacturer’s rally programme, with almost one competitor in every three choosing a Lancia Ypsilon for one of the season’s most important events.

More than simply a numerical milestone, the achievement highlights the success of a project built around a complete sporting pathway. From the Ypsilon Rally6, developed to introduce newcomers to rallying, through the Rally4 HF, the cornerstone of Trofeo Lancia and national and international competition, to the Rally2 HF Integrale competing at the highest levels of European and world rallying, Lancia now offers a structured route for driver development.

The objective is not only to provide competitive machinery, but also to create an environment where young drivers can gain experience, visibility and technical expertise, helping the best Italian talents progress from grassroots competition to the highest levels of international motorsport.

This vision is further strengthened through Lancia’s collaboration with ACI and ACI Sport (Italian ASN), sharing a common objective of promoting Italian rallying and creating new opportunities for young drivers.

Leading the official Lancia Corse HF effort in the FIA European Rally Championship will be Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi. The Italian pairing arrives in Rome looking to strengthen its position in the championship aboard the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, a car that continues to demonstrate its competitiveness at the highest level of European rallying.

Also continuing their impressive development are Finnish crew Tuukka Kauppinen and Topi Luhtinen, who have already come close to securing top-10 finishes on two occasions during the opening rounds of the season.

The Rally2 category promises to deliver one of the strongest fields of the year. Seven Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale cars will line up, entrusted to some of the most prominent names in international rallying.

Among them are Lancia Corse HF WRC2 drivers Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin, who will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with stages that will join the FIA World Rally Championship calendar from next season. They will be joined by current Italian championship leader Andrea Crugnola and multiple French champion Yoann Bonato.

Attention will also focus on the ERC4 and Junior ERC categories, where the official Lancia Corse HF colours will be represented by Davide Pesavento and Alessio Angeli, alongside Francesco Dei Ceci and Christian Vizzaccaro.

The two Italian crews continue their campaigns in the FIA ERC’s youth-focused championships, competing against some of Europe’s most promising rally talents. Their participation reflects one of the core objectives of the Lancia programme: identifying talent, testing potential and supporting drivers on a pathway capable of transforming sporting promise into a genuine professional opportunity.

The Ypsilon Rally4 HF will once again play a central role in Rome. Eighteen examples are entered in the FIA ERC, while a further 10 cars will compete exclusively in the Italian championship classifications, bringing the total number of Ypsilon Rally4 HF entries to 28.

These figures underline both the sporting and commercial success of the model, while confirming Rally4’s strategic importance within the Lancia project as a category that combines accessibility, driver development and international competition.

Rally di Roma Capitale will also host the third and fourth round of the Trofeo Lancia season, with 18 crews entered. After the opening two rounds, Edoardo De Antoni leads both the overall and Master standings, Nicolò Ardizzone tops the Junior classification, while Christian Casadei is the leader in Expert standings.

With valuable double points at stake and competition becoming increasingly intense, the Rome double-header could prove decisive in shaping the title battles.

Trofeo Lancia remains the heart of the brand’s driver development programme. More than a one-make championship, it is a platform offering competition, technical support, visibility and dedicated prizes.

For the Under-35 champion, overall success can become a genuine career opportunity thanks to access to an official Lancia programme in 2027. This makes the Trofeo not only a championship, but a true pathway towards professional rallying.

Completing the line-up will be two examples of the new Lancia Ypsilon Rally6, making their second official competition appearance.

The Rally6 represents the first step of the Lancia sporting pyramid and has been developed to provide young drivers with an affordable and educational platform capable of building the technical foundations required to progress towards higher categories.

Thanks to its status as a round of the FIA European Rally Championship, the Italian Rally Championship and the Trofeo Lancia, Rally di Roma Capitale continues to establish itself as one of the most significant events of the season.

For Lancia Corse HF, the weekend will showcase not only the competitiveness of its rally cars, but also the strength of a programme that connects product, competition and talent development, helping return the Lancia name to the forefront of international rallying.

The rally officially gets underway on Friday 3 July at 17:30 with the ceremonial parade through the streets of Rome, before the iconic opening special stage beside the Colosseum at 20:00.

Saturday features six special stages covering 123 competitive kilometres, many of them new to the event, while Sunday’s finale includes four stages totalling 71 kilometres before the podium ceremony in Via della Conciliazione, with St Peter’s Basilica providing a spectacular backdrop.
