PSA Peugeot Citroën reaffirms its commitment to promoting diversity and hiring the disabled
On Friday, 28 January, Claude Brunet, Vice President Human Resources and Quality, signed a partnership agreement with three non-profit organisations involved in social integration and jobs programmes for the disabled: IHY –Insertion Handicapés Yvelines 78, ARPEJEH and Tremplin Entreprises.
The purpose of the new agreement is to strengthen initiatives within the Group to promote the hiring of disabled persons in the years ahead. These initiatives include:
- Raising awareness among employees and managers in order to eliminate preconceived ideas, getting team members more involved in the process and helping managers to improve their performance with regard to hiring the disabled.
- Communicating PSA Peugeot Citroën’s hire-the-handicapped policies and actions more effectively to employment networks, local agencies and schools, training organisations, and secondary-school partners.
- Promoting the Group’s internship, apprenticeship, and hiring programmes.
- Participating in the PSA Peugeot Citroën employment and work/study forum.
Since 2000, the Group has signed and implemented a wide range of agreements.
To promote and facilitate outsourcing to sheltered workshops and job programs for the socially disadvantaged, PSA Peugeot Citroën helped found Pas@pas, an association that promotes socially responsible purchasing.
For more than 20 years, the Group has been France’s largest purchaser from sheltered workshops.
Subcontracting with this sector was a key component of the Group agreement on social integration and job opportunities for the disabled.
In 2009, PSA Peugeot Citroën purchases from employ-the-disabled organisations represented €31 million in terms of value added. These operations concern six organisations, of which five located near the Group’s production plants, and have provided stable employment for 1,754 disabled persons.
In 2010, the Group had more than 5,300 disabled employees worldwide and exceeded the legal handicapped-employee threshold of 6% for French companies.
In another example of the Group’s commitment to hiring the handicapped, the Diversity Label first awarded to PSA Peugeot Citroën in 2009 was renewed in 2010.
