The new PEUGEOT 508 wins the Design award from Automotive News Europe
Pierre-Paul Mattei, Product Design Director for the new PEUGEOT 508, received the 2018 Eurostar Design award on 1 October for his work on PEUGEOT’S radical new saloon. Every year, Automotive News Europe acknowledges individuals having produced particularly innovative work in the automotive sector.
The Automotive News Europe jury rewarded the work of Pierre-Paul Mattei and his design team on the new PEUGEOT 508.
The jury applauded the bold styling choices that make a clean break with conventional design cues relative to the body styling of D-segment saloons. The decision to create a shorter model than the previous generation and to use frameless door technology, which serves to reduce ground clearance relative to its main rivals in the segment, give it a special presence and on-road stance. These are just some of the secrets behind the attitude of the new Peugeot 508.
In addition to the body proportions, the jury also appreciated the interior design, stressing its originality. The new PEUGEOT 508 features the latest take on the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, which retains its key components, namely a compact steering wheel, large 10-inch capacitive touchscreen and customisable, high-resolution digital head-up display.
