Roland Garros 2019: the new PEUGEOT e-208 at the heart of the facility and the brand's latest international communication campaign in the world of tennis

As Roland-Garros’ partner for 35 years, PEUGEOT is back behind the scenes of this prestigious tournament taking place in Paris from May 26 to June 9, 2019. The eleven tennis ambassadors of PEUGEOT will wear the colours of the brand on clay in the new Roland-Garros facilities. PEUGEOT will be providing the official transport for players, VIPs, journalists and the general public with a fleet of 226 vehicles. The brand will unveil its new international communication campaign in the world of tennis during the tournament. In partnership with Roland Garros, the Road To Roland-Garros web series will also be renewed this year with a new PEUGEOT 508 SW.

Eleven brand ambassadors at Roland-Garros

From May 26 to June 9, a team of eleven PEUGEOT ambassadors will be at the Roland-Garros tournament:

  • Alexander Zverev (Germany - No. 5 ATP), Juan Martin Del Potro (Argentina - No. 9), Diego Schwartzman (Argentina - No. 20), Lucas Pouille (France - No. 25), Fernando Verdasco (Spain - No. 26), Pablo Carreño Busta (Spain - No. 56), Robin Haase (Netherlands - No. 67), Leonardo Mayer (Argentina - No. 68) in singles ,
  • Jamie Murray (UK), Robert Farah (Colombia) and Juan Sebastian Cabal (Colombia) in doubles. Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal have just won the double master 1000 of Rome. They are ranked 10th in the world.

A new international communication campaign

PEUGEOT is launching a new communication campaign for Roland-Garros highlighting the electrification strategy of the brand.

Embodying the lifestyle of the new generation driven by Alexander Zverev, Lucas Pouille and Pablo Carreño Busta, this campaign highlights the new PEUGEOT e-208 and PEUGEOT's strategy to project into the new automotive era in the midst of the energy transition.

The film, shot in Nice and Monaco, is produced by the Willie Beamen agency.

PEUGEOT Premium Partner and Official Tournament Car

With a fleet of 226 vehicles, mainly made up of new PEUGEOT 508 saloon and SW, PEUGEOT 5008 and PEUGEOT Traveller, PEUGEOT will be providing the official transport for the players, VIPs, journalists and the general public during the fortnight.

The new PEUGEOT 508 SW will be at the heart of the Road To Roland-Garros program, a web series in several episodes renewed for this 2019 edition. Indeed, 7 brand ambassadors will take part: Alexander Zverev, Juan Martin Del Potro, Lucas Pouille, Diego Schwartzman, Pablo Carreño Busta, Fernando Verdasco and Robin Haase. They will answer the funny and quirky questions that will be asked by a voice-over or by the actor Guillaume Dolmans during their journey to Roland-Garros, the goal is to discover their true personality.

The brand will be showcasing the new PEUGEOT e-208 in blue vertigo this year at Roland Garros. Because the energy transition is a real opportunity, the new PEUGEOT 208 will be offered from launch in electric, gasoline or diesel version. This new generation of PEUGEOT 208 is truly part of the PEUGEOT brand’s move upmarket and this is confirmed by its sharp design, infusing youth and energy. Innovative in its distinctive style, the new PEUGEOT 208 is also innovating with a new generation of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® with a 3D head-up combo and a range of driving aids from the upper segments.

The 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED Concept will also be given pride of place and displayed throughout the tournament. Entrusted to the expertise of PEUGEOT SPORT engineers, the Concept 508 PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED is derived from the radical PEUGEOT 508 HYBRID sedan. This high performance/low emissions concept delivers exceptional performance, unprecedented on a PEUGEOT with a sharp and athletic stylistic treatment. With this concept, PEUGEOT is proving that an electrified motorization can also be synonymous with pure pleasure, that electric is the source of smart neo-performance, which combines intensity and efficiency.

New facilities in the heart of Roland-Garros

For this 2019 edition, the legendary Philippe-Chatrier court will have a new 15,000-seat area to provide increased comfort and visibility to the audience. Players will have new spaces under the stands.In 2020, the Philippe-Chatrier court will have a retractable roof allowing matches to be played in case of rain.

The new Auteuil greenhouses and the Simonne-Mathieu tennis court will also be inaugurated during the 2019 edition of Roland-Garros.

These contemporary greenhouses are to protect unique plant species, to be a space of relaxation, as well as a backdrop for the new tennis court paying tribute to the tennis player Simonne-Mathieu. A resistance fighter and captain of the Free French Forces, she won the French Open on 2 occasions in 1938 and 1939, and 11 more Grand Slam titles. She is the second most successful female French player after Suzanne Lenglen.
