First distinction for the PEUGEOT 2008 in Italy

First award for the PEUGEOT 2008 in Italy: five months after its launch, PEUGEOT’s urban crossover is singled out for the prestigious AUTO EUROPA award, given by the Italian association of motoring journalists.

First distinction for the PEUGEOT 2008 in Italy

For the 28th year of the AUTO EUROPA award, professional journalist members of the Unione Italiana dei Giornalisti dell’Automotive (UIGA) were called on to elect one of the new models launched in Europe between September 2012 and August 2013, based on a wide range of criteria.Following the 208, awarded in 2012 and the 3008 Crossover in 2009, the PEUGEOT 2008 carries off the 2014 AUTO EUROPA award. With 167 points, it was ahead of the Fiat 500 L (117) and the Citroën C4 Picasso (103) on the podium. In the 2008, the jury particularly liked the exterior and interior design, the on board technology, the ability to go off the beaten track thanks to the Grip Control system and its improved fuel consumption. The PEUGEOT 2008 is a compact, agile and multi-role crossover, with innovative instruments and controls, refined styling and a strong personality which embodies the brand’s expertise in city cars and its now recognised know-how in the world of crossovers. Matching the dynamism suggested by its sleek lines, 2008 has engines of the latest generation under its bonnet, engines with particularly reduced fuel consumption : with its e-HDi diesel and 3-cylinder petrol engines, the PEUGEOT urban crossover stands out with its CO2 emissions, starting at 98 g/km CO2.Success has been achieved both quantitative and qualitative: launched in Europe between May and July 2013 into the strongly growing CUV category in the B segment, by the end of September the 2008 had already registered 54,400 orders, well above the objectives for the date. Furthermore, with a particularly high trim level mix - nearly 71 % of orders in Europe are for the upper 3 and 4 trim levels, against an initial objective of 50 % - the PEUGEOT urban crossover demonstrates that the brand’s move up market policy is being implemented across all of its range. Produced initially in Mulhouse, where capacity has been progressively increased to 620 vehicles per day to meet the high demand, production and sales of the PEUGEOT 2008 will start in China in 2014 and then in Brazil in 2015.
