Astana 2017 International Exhibition - PEUGEOT asserts itself as a sustainable transport brand

PEUGEOT, AN INDISPENSABLE SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY PLAYER

PEUGEOT has been in the electric vehicle market since 1995 and is the only brand in the world to provide a global sustainable mobility market offering: a dozen electrically-assisted bicycles, an electrically assisted folding kick-scooter and an electric motor scooter, in addition to electric passenger and commercial vehicles.

With Quartz, e-Kick, e-Vivacity and EC03.200, PEUGEOT displays in Astana examples of its know-how in sustainable mobility.

Quartz, the Concept Car - efficient technology

Sporty and efficient

The Quartz concept car's impressive styling calls for an exceptional engine. With a total power output of 500 bhp, the full-hybrid plug-in drive train features a combustion engine and two electric motors.

The evocatively louvered bonnet houses a 1.6L THP 270 engine designed by Peugeot Sport. Mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox, this 4 cylinder engine produces 330 Nm of torque with a specific power output of almost 170 hp/l.

In addition, the front axle is directly driven by a 85 kW electric motor, which recharges the 400V battery during deceleration and assists the combustion engine during gear-shifting. The rear axle is also fitted with an 85 kW electric drive motor which also helps to recharge the battery. A special ESP distributes the brake-force between the four wheels to enhance vehicle stability and to provide an optimum battery charge level.

There are three drive modes. In ZEV mode, the vehicle has a range of up to 50 km on electric power alone, thanks to the plug-in battery. In Road mode, the combustion engine and front electric motor combine to provide true driveability and to maximise battery charging during deceleration. Race mode harnesses the power of the combustion engine plus the two electric motors to get the most out of the chassis and the running gear that is fitted with limited slip differentials.

The cabin showcases innovative, efficient materials

Scissor doors make for ease of access. A new manufacturing process has been used to preclude the need for a B-pillar. Quartz is based on an EMP2 platform with a composite structure and bonded panels. In addition to weight savings, this solution provides for excellent stiffness, which makes it possible to do away with the central pillar.

A retractable step adds to the comfort of all four passengers. Inside, a range of unexpected materials from both natural and recycled sources contribute to the sensory experience and create an impressive visual and tactile effect.

The strength and lightness of basalt symbolises the Quartz itself and features strongly in the central console. Basalt is formed when rapidly cooled magma comes into contact with the elements.

Quartz is the first-ever vehicle to use digitally woven textile. This innovative process can create large, complex fabrics that can be used as soon as they come off the machine. No cutting is necessary, which means that there is no waste. The textile is woven with polyester fibre obtained from recycling the type of plastic used in water bottles. In addition, this process can produce relatively thick fabrics, which makes them softer and offers the possibility of dispensing with foam padding that is normally used.

For a sporty feel, the floor pan, sides and roof are trimmed in black leather with contact points, such as seat cushions and seatbacks trimmed in fawn-coloured leather. This fawn trim is sourced from old furniture and/or clothing.

E-Kick, a new mobility experience

E-Kick enables people to optimise urban mobility. Compact and weighing only 8.5 kg, e-Kick features major innovations:

- The "Motion Control", electric assistance solution developed by MICRO. This feature, which is perfectly integrated in the platform (lithium-ion battery) and the rear wheel (motor), optimises the level of assistance based on user movements and has a range of 12 kilometres. It allows for speeds of up to 25 km/h and for extra safety, in addition to a conventional brake, there is a motor brake which recharges the battery.

- e-Kick is designed for customers looking for mobility solutions that go hand in hand with their vehicle. A docking station enables users to stow the e-Kick in the boot of the new PEUGEOT 3008 and 5008 SUVs, which also recharge the battery when the vehicle is moving. Outside the car, the scooter can also be recharged in around an hour via a standard mains socket.

PEUGEOT e-Vivacity, the Lion brand's 100% electric scooter

A pioneer in electric mobility, PEUGEOT Scooters was the first brand to invest in this market segment with the launch of Scootelec in 1996, followed by e-Vivacity in 2011. The new model, GenZe, which stands for "Zero Emission Generation", developed in collaboration with GenZe by Mahindra is expected to come on stream in the autumn of 2017.

e-Vivacity provides exceptional driveability. In addition, the lack of noise provides a new experience, immersing both driver and passenger in an unprecedented silent world. PEUGEOT's e-Vivacity, a 100% electric scooter has a range of 60 km. e-Vivacity can be recharged via a standard 220 V power cable connected to the mains or via an urban recharging station. Five hours is the time required to provide a 100% charge (1 charger) or eight hours for a single charger.

e-Vivacity is fitted with the latest generation of lithium-ion batteries and an optimised drive train, which means that it provides a range of 60 km at 45 km/h.

The two-wheeler provides a record capacity with its flat floor-pan and the 35 L stowage areas providing for full helmet storage under the saddle and a half-jet helmet in the front façade.

With a maximum power output of 3 kW at 6000 rpm, maximum torque is 14 Nm. In addition, it is particularly speedy and has exceptional acceleration to cope with all traffic conditions!

PEUGEOT eC03.200*: top quality in the electrically-assisted bicycle world

The high-quality specifications of the PEUGEOT eC03.200 has ensured that it is the best seller in the Peugeot urban bike range. What better way to discover an electrically-assisted urban bike!

The E-Going electric motor on the front wheel is flexible, reactive and reliable. The Shimano 7-speed transmission fitted with a digital screen is a further enhancement.

The 40 mm suspended Suntour CRV7 is perfect for local urban trips.

Range is 50, 75 or 100 kilometres, depending on the battery; it can be selected as a function of the user profile.

*eC03.200: e for Electric / C for City / 03 range entry

Over 100 countries and 17 international organisations have confirmed their participation in the Astana 2017 EXPO, where over 5 million visitors are expected.

In line with its policy of expanding to cover strategic international markets, PEUGEOT is developing activities in Kazakhstan, one of the key markets in Eurasia zone.

In Kazakhstan, the PEUGEOT brand is marketing passenger and commercial vehicles that are produced at the Kostanay plant.
