Electrification is at the heart of the PEUGEOT brand's strategy and the new PEUGEOT 308 will offer two rechargeable hybrid engines on its saloon and SW estate versions right from launch. By 2021, these new products will increase the PEUGEOT range’s electrification rate to 70%, including both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. By 2023, 85% of the brand's models will be electrified and 100% by 2025 in Europe.

In order to offer the best possible user experience and to best meet the expectations of its customers, PEUGEOT is developing its new vehicles around digital technology, and offers ever more innovative features. Thanks to the MyPeugeot application, the smartphone is becoming the first point of contact between the customer, the brand and its dealer network. A number of practical functions enable customers to stay connected to their vehicles in all circumstances. Free of charge and available on iOS and Android, the MyPeugeot application makes it possible to manage all vehicle-related services from the same interface. With a single click, the application displays all driving statistics, the entire maintenance logbook, anticipates future maintenance operations, accesses all vehicle documentation or enables users to prepare their journey from their smartphone. MyPeugeot also includes services dedicated to rechargeable hybrid and electric vehicles.

These 2 protocols have the same objective: to measure the regulated pollutants (CO/HC/Nox/particles) and the consumption expressed in CO2 over the cycle for a new vehicle, yet one will be replacing the other. Introduced in 1992, the NEDC protocol (New European Driving Cycle) has become outdated and has been gradually replaced by the WLTP protocol (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) since September 2017, which is much closer to the real conditions of vehicle use. The new WLTP test gives consumers a more realistic view of regulated pollutant emissions and CO2 consumption of vehicles with much more representative data.

At first glance, since the birth of the car, the steering wheel has been the mechanical organ that has evolved the least in both form and function. However, it has never stopped changing, nor has it ever tried to break free from its circular shape. Originally very simple and dedicated solely to steering control, it has gradually become more complex. It has grown larger by gradually incorporating multiple secondary functions: horn, radio controls, speed regulation or limitation controls, gear shifting via an impulse control system, airbag. The material of the steering wheel has also considerably changed. Its frame, initially made of wood, became steel, then aluminium and finally magnesium. PEUGEOT presents its new Plug-in Hybrid petrol engines. This new offer complements the existing PEUGEOT 3008 and the new PEUGEOT 508 and 508 SW engines. PEUGEOT reveals its vision of tomorrow's driving environment as it introduces the latest PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®. Designed for an instinctive, safer and natural driving experience, this operational demonstrator is a preview of the brand's passenger cabin space on future models. With advanced ergonomics, head-up digital instrument display panel, interactive touchscreen, technology has never been so perfectly showcased. The study conducted by the Brand reviewed the experience of 2.2 million users of the current generation of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, fitted on PEUGEOT 208, 2008 and 308 vehicles. PEUGEOT has quickly and significantly reduced the CO2 emissions of all its vehicles. Speedy introduction of the PureTech 3-cylinder petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines along with the new THP 1.6 L petrol engine and EAT6 gearboxes now place 20 PEUGEOT vehicles at the top of their vehicle class for CO2 emissions (five PureTech, three 1.6 L THP and 12 BlueHDi engines). The very low-consumption model of the PEUGEOT 208, at 79 g/km of CO2, boasts the lowest emissions in the world for a combustion engine vehicle. And the PEUGEOT 308, at 82 g/km of CO2, holds the record for the C segment. With ever cleaner engines and lower CO2 emissions, PEUGEOT is upholding its standards for environmentally friendly vehicle design. PEUGEOT's environmental performance enabled the PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN Group to regain its position as European leader in 2014 with an average of 110.3 g/km of CO2 in a European market whose average is 123.7 g. This result has been achieved with no change to the segment mix. High-performance engines combine efficiency with driving pleasure. This latest generation of engines and EAT6 automatic gearboxes are also in keeping with the PEUGEOT brand promise to introduce a new, improved and exciting driving experience.

In line with the commitments made during the “Kick it to Brazil” operation, the brand campaign carried out by PEUGEOT in March and April 2014 that followed the journey made by a football from France to Brazil, passing through many countries and several continents on the way, 15,000 new trees are to be planted at the PEUGEOT-ONF forestry carbon sink at Fazenda Sao Nicolau, the site of the project, in the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil. These saplings will join the 2 million trees of more than 50 different species already introduced to the project site, a project that started in 1998 and is planned to continue until 2038.

PEUGEOT is rising to today's challenges through an innovative approach to environmental efficiency. The new Euro 6 petrol and diesel engines make its vehicles among the best in their category. Even more impressive is the fact that this performance has been achieved while ensuring the highest standards of driving pleasure, in keeping with PEUGEOT requirements. The brand is unveiling its new range of Euro 6 engines on the PEUGEOT 208 and 308 hatchbacks, the new 508 sedan, the PEUGEOT 2008 and 3008 crossovers, and the PEUGEOT 5008 MPV. The PureTech and 1.6-litre THP petrol engines, like the BlueHDi diesel, are generously equipped with Stop & Start technology. They are coupled with PEUGEOT's highly effective, robust third-gen Efficient Automatic Transmission 6 (EAT6). These advances have reduced the average weighted CO2 emissions of PEUGEOT's European range, which stood at 111.2 g/km at the end of May 2014, compared with 115.1 g/km in 2013, making the brand one of Europe's cleanest automakers and putting PSA Peugeot Citroën at the top of the CAFE ranking. PEUGEOT is continuing in its efforts to achieve the goal of 2 l/100 km by 2020 by showcasing the PEUGEOT 208 HYbrid Air 2L demonstrator at the Paris Motor Show.

Faced with major issues around the environment and energy supply, PEUGEOT views innovation as an important lever for differentiation to position it as leader in many of the technologies for the protection of the environment, while still maintaining the level of driving enjoyment in line with the brand’s reputation. This year, PEUGEOT’s environmental commitment can be seen in the offer of three HYbrid4 models, the extension through the model range of the PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines, the introduction of BlueHDi technology on Diesel engines, the arrival of new automatic gearboxes and the wider availability of the Stop&Start system. In this way, the brand further reduced the average weighted CO2 emissions of its European range in 2013. With 115.2 g/km in 2013, against 121.6 g/km in 2012, PEUGEOT is on the European podium for the cleanest and most economical brands. In 2014, PEUGEOT continues its efforts towards the objective of 2 l/100 by 2020 for an improvement in air quality.

In the face of current environmental and fuel economy challenges, PEUGEOT considers innovation to be a major area of differentiation and establishes itself as a leader in numerous technologies for reducing the impact on the environment. The Marque’s aim is to have a wide range of technologies available to fulfil many customer requirements in terms of performance (driving pleasure and fuel economy), use (urban, multi-purpose, inter-urban), price and geographic coverage. Therefore, the approach is varied. It relates to optimisation of the drivetrains (internal combustion, electric and hybrid), to the post-treatment of pollutant emissions and to the materials. European leader in 2012 with CO2 of 121.5g/km, in 2013 PEUGEOT is reducing the weighted average emissions of CO2 of its European range still further. At the end the May this stands at 116.3g/km. New technologies will allow it to achieve the ambitious CO2 policy target of 95g per kilometre on the weighted average of the new vehicles sold in Europe in 2020 and offer particularly economical engines with 2.0 l/100km (141mpg). BlueHDi refers to the exclusive diesel emission control technology, uniquely combining oxidation catalysis, SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and the DPF with additive, the only one to combine reduction of NOx by up to 90%, elimination of particulates and reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The HYbrid Air combines petrol and compressed air in a full hybrid solution. The simplicity, durability and international nature of this technology make it potentially available to the largest audience of consumers. The HYbrid Air is a key step in reaching the target of 2.0l/100km (141mpg). To achieve this, the non Plug-in, petrol full-hybrid PEUGEOT 208 HYbrid FE explores new technologies. This technological concept, in partnership with Total, combines driving pleasure with low CO2 emissions.
