This will be the successor to the current PEUGEOT 208 R2: a best-seller and a global benchmark when it comes to two-wheel drive rally cars, a category that was recently renamed ‘Rally 4’ by world motorsport’s governing body, the FIA. Based on the new 208 road car and benefitting from the latest advanced technology, PEUGEOT SPORT’s engineers and development teams have stayed loyal to the tenets that made the current 208 R2 so successful, with more than 450 examples sold worldwide: reliability, performance, and user-friendliness. Following an intensive development programme, in which the car was tested and validated on all types of surfaces and in extreme conditions with experienced drivers, PEUGEOT SPORT will make its new rally car – offering an unparalleled driving experience and unprecedented performance in the class – available in the second quarter of 2020.

The brand-new PEUGEOT 208R2, the successor to the best-selling rally car in the history of PEUGEOT SPORT as well as the best-seller in the category – the current PEUGEOT 208 R2 – has turned a wheel for the first time in the Vosges region of France, as it enters the dynamic phase of testing. The New PEUGEOT 208R2 is based on the latest PEUGEOT 208 road car, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland last month and features a three-cylinder 1.2-litre turbocharged PureTech engine, making it eligible for FIA R2C regulations.
