Rüsselsheim. Opel is expanding its range of tailor-made solutions for professionals: Starting in autumn, the new Opel Combo Start will be available as the most accessible version among compact light commercial vehicles (LCVs). In addition to an extremely attractive price, the Combo Start will be characterised by its distinctive design and its high flexibility for all the requirements of everyday work. The equipment highlights include the variable, modular Flexiseat, which increases the storage space on the passenger side, as well as smart features such as the Modutable and a new storage compartment under the driver's seat. In addition, the Opel Combo Start offers users a free choice of drive. It ranges from battery-electric to efficient diesel and petrol engines to a 48V hybrid, which will complement the range from 2027.
Opel Combo Start: Unmistakable appearance and unique flexible solutions
The Opel Combo Start immediately stands out as a new accessible and efficient version among light commercial vehicles. Its boldly designed, prominent front bumper underlines at first glance that it is made for robust tasks. The same applies to the interior. The driver-oriented cockpit has been equipped with a new dashboard and new door panels, which both improve robustness and ergonomic handling, as well as optimise space usage. Everything in the Combo Start is focused on practical work – the ideal companion for delivery services as well as on the construction site, for large and small fleets.
Thus, the entire driver's cabin has been designed for maximum flexibility. This is reflected in particular in the redesign of the passenger side with the so-called Flexiseat. The Flexiseat, which is unique in the segment, is a modular seat for one person. However, the seat can also be folded upwards, so that the load volume increases by 0.5 m3. In this way, space is created in the passenger footwell for packages, tool boxes or other work utensils. Furthermore, the cabin is fitted with a 230V power socket so that tablets, laptops and other devices can be charged.
The optional Modutable on the passenger side, which can be used as a practical shelf in the mobile office or as a dining table, completes the range. This innovation has also been specially designed for the Combo Start, which will be released this autumn. The surface can be used as a small desk for the laptop while drinks can be stored in the cupholder. A safety net below the table ensures that no objects from the loading area in the passenger footwell slip towards the driver. Instead of the net, the ModutablePlus will also be available at a later date. It comes with a closed vertical compartment which can accommodate documents up to A4 format, for example. When the Modutable is not in use, it can be stored behind the cabin wall in the cargo compartment to save space.
Other innovative features of the Combo Start include:
- Dashbox: Here, the dashboard has additional storage compartments on its top for everyday items.
- Drive Drawer: An additional storage drawer is used to store notepads, tablets, etc. in the non-visible area under the driver's seat.
- Moduconsole: The centre console, which can be flexibly attached and removed, has a cupholder and a closed storage compartment.
- Moduwork: This configuration offers a third seat in the middle. When not in use, the seat can be converted or used as a load-through option for transporting long items.
Proven strengths: Wide range of drive options and all known Combo virtues
Another advantage of the new Combo Start is the wide range of drive options tailored to all applications and customer needs. The all-electric, 100 kW (136 hp) Combo Start Electric will make everyday work easier with a 42 kWh battery (usable capacity) and thus an extremely competitive locally emissions-free range of up to 270 kilometres (WLTP1). Alternatively, 74 kW (100 hp) and 96 kW (130 hp) diesel variants or a petrol engine with 81 kW (110 hp) are available. The efficient combustion engines are always combined with manual transmissions. From 2027, a 48V hybrid variant will also be added to the portfolio.
Elsewhere, tradespeople do not have to make any compromises at all. The Combo Start offers all the typical Combo strengths. As usual, it will be available in two lengths. In addition, it offers a load volume of up to 4.4 m3 and, depending on the drive, up to one tonne of payload. In this way, the new Opel Combo Start, which will be available to order from autumn, combines proven flexibility with innovative features for interior comfort at a particularly competitive price-performance ratio.

The stated range was determined using the WLTP test procedures (Regulation (EC) No. 715/2007 and Regulation (EU) No. 2017/1151). The actual range may vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular personal driving style, route conditions, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning as well as thermal preconditioning.
