Rüsselsheim.  From 15 October, Mobility City Zaragoza will shine in the colours of the iconic Opel Blitz. Located on the landmark Zaha Hadid Bridge over the Ebro River, this space dedicated to future mobility of large cities will host ‘Opel Love’ – an immersive journey through Opel’s history and its unique relationship with the Aragonese capital. The exhibition will be open to visitors until the end of February 2026.

During the opening week (15–21 October), the futuristic Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, first unveiled at this year’s IAA Mobility in Munich, will be one of the key highlights. Visitors can experience it both in person and behind the wheel, thanks to two Gran Turismo 7 driving simulators. This marks the concept’s debut in Spain – and fittingly, in Zaragoza, where the Opel Corsa is built for markets around the world.

Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo: The Epitome of GSE

With two 350 kW (476 hp) electric motors, one on each axle, the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo boasts a combined output of 588 kW (800 hp) for thrilling driving dynamics. In addition, the permanent all-wheel drive enhances grip, handling, and overall vehicle stability. In combination with the single-speed transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.0 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h.

This exhilarating performance is matched by the stunning design. The first phygital concept car from Rüsselsheim has a similar footprint to a Corsa but it is lower and considerably wider. Meanwhile, the overall design shows a new, more technical execution of Opel’s bold and pure design philosophy. The body sculpture displays sharp and precise feature lines combined with technical and machined details.

To ensure that the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo remains firmly planted on the road, it features numerous clever and optimised aero solutions. Aero curtains in front of the confident front and rear fenders along with black aero blade fender flares ensure smoother airflow thus enhancing the vehicle’s handling at high speeds. In addition, the aero wheels increase efficiency by reducing air turbulence in the wheelhouses while the active aero diffusor and active aero spoiler help increase or decrease downforce depending on the driving situation.

Entrepreneurial and visionary spirit of Opel

This desire to innovate has been Opel's philosophy since its inception. Adam Opel's entrepreneurial and visionary spirit drove the brand forward from the very beginning, since it was a child of the Industrial Revolution, an era full of innovations and confidence in progress that produced impacts on everyday life that continue to this day. For this reason, the chronological starting point of the exhibition is not a car, but a Type No. 2 sewing machine from 1870, a tribute to the first industrial activity of the German brand. Reflecting the brand's innovative vocation, a ‘Vibrating Shuttle’ sewing machine from 1909 is also on display.

‘Opel Love’ also presents unique vehicles from the Opel Classic collection that were real milestones. These include motorcycles and bicycles, such as the striking 5-seater Quintuplet from 1895 or the ZR III racing bicycle from 1928, both paying homage to Opel’s world-leading position in this area a century ago. One highlight of the classic exhibits is the venerable and pioneering Opel Patent Motorwagen System Lutzmann. Launched in 1899, it marked the beginning of the brand's automobile success story. Its single-cylinder rear engine and two-speed gearbox allowed it to reach 20 km/h. The vehicle on display, a 2+2 convertible from 1901, is the last unit produced of this model.

An old advertising slogan of Opel once read ‘German technology at your fingertips’. And the Rüsselsheim-based brand’s philosophy to democratise technologies and make them available to a wide range of customers is present throughout its history. Two cars that embody this philosophy are on display at this exhibition. The 1909 Opel 4/8 hp ‘Doktorwagen’ is a two-seater that revolutionised the market with its affordable price, low maintenance costs and easy handling. It brought the automobile to the middle class and professionals such as doctors, hence its nickname.

The other model is the Opel 4/12 hp ‘Laubfrosch’ from 1924, the first mass-produced car in Germany which made Rüsselsheim the largest vehicle factory of its time. No less than 120,000 units were produced of this compact and green open two-seater (hence its nickname ‘tree frog’) until 1931, consolidating the brand's commercial leadership in Germany. Currently, around 100 units of the Laubfrosch remain and it has become a highly coveted piece among collectors of classic vehicles.

Glimpses of the future

The future is the territory of dreams and the expression of confidence in the technical progress of an era and a society. At the ‘Opel Love’ exhibition, prototypes and concept cars with which the ‘Blitz’ gave exclusive previews into the future of cars will be on display. For example, the 1969 CD Concept Wireframe was presented as the ‘special generation car’, with its futuristic vision of a two-seater luxury coupé with a one-piece body made of fiberglass. Two years later, the Elektro GT managed to demonstrate that an electric motor could beat a combustion engine in terms of performance and speed, breaking several records – half a century before the start of the energy transition. Prototypes such as the 1974 OSV 40 opened new avenues in terms of safety, while the 1994 Scamp 2 anticipated the compact SUVs trend. Later the RAKe used electrification to blur the lines between car and motorcycle.

Obviously, more recent concept cars will also be on show. These include the 2018 GT X Experimental, an electric compact SUV that advanced the new identity of the brand with the Opel Vizor, which integrates headlights, daytime running lights, cameras and assistance sensors in a dark plexiglass frame next to the modern Opel Blitz emblem, as well as the Manta GSe, a futuristic reinterpretation of the legendary sports car of the 1970s.

Bestselling Corsa born in Zaragoza

To say Opel Corsa is to say Zaragoza. And therefore, the brand's now legendary bestselling small car also plays an important role in the exhibition. ‘Opel Love’ reviews the history of this model, whose six generations have all been manufactured in Aragon. Mobility City is not only home to the Opel Corsa A, the vehicle that started production in Figueruelas in 1982, revolutionised urban mobility and marked style with its straight lines, its dynamic stance and its aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.36. Next to it, the extravagant Opel Corsa Spider, a two-seater convertible that anticipated the great design features of a car of which more than 14.5 million units have been sold in its more than four decades of history. Elsewhere, concept cars based on the silhouette and platform of this model, such as the 1997 Opel Corsa B ‘Moon’, will also be on display.

‘Opel Love’ offers a unique opportunity to explore the past, present, and future of mobility through the lens of one of Germany’s most enduring automotive brands. More than 25 pieces from the Opel Classic collection, treasured by the team in Rüsselsheim, will be on display, inviting visitors to experience Opel’s legacy up close.
