Rüsselsheim.  “Opel goes electric”, announced the German carmaker at a press conference today, where CEO Michael Lohscheller presented the company’s electrification strategy to more than 300 international journalists. By 2024 there will be an electrified version of every Opel model. The start is made by the Corsa-e battery electric vehicle and Opel’s first plug-in hybrid, the all-wheel drive Grandland X Hybrid4.

“It is no coincidence that our first pure electric model of the new generation is a Corsa, our most popular nameplate and one of the bestselling cars in Europe”, Michael Lohscheller told the journalists. “The Corsa-e not only makes electric mobility more practical and convenient, but also more accessible.”

With a compact length of 4.06 metres, the sporty, 100kW (136hp) Corsa-e offers advanced technologies and an all-electric range of up to 330 kilometres (WLTP1). The Corsa-e is an electric car for everyone and ideal for every-day use.

In addition to the Corsa-e, Lohscheller also presented for the first time the new Grandland X Hybrid4, which in the WLTP1 driving cycle can cover up to 59 kilometres in pure electric mode (NEDC: 67-69 km) and emits only 32-29 g/km CO2 (1.4-1.3 l/100 km WLTP1; NEDC2: 1.5 l/100 km, 35-34 g/km CO2). Both highly equipped models can be ordered now.

The video highlights of the press conference are available here.
