Rüsselsheim.  Fun, electrifying and fast: that’s the Opel mood in 2019 and going into next year! From the launch of the new Corsa-e to the Frankfurt Motor Show and the first pictures of the new Insignia, this year was full of exciting news from Opel. They are all wrapped up in a fast paced video that reflects the rhythm of 2019.

Paying homage to its iconic models, the brand acknowledges a 120 years old rich car making tradition, while pursuing the vision for the future. For the video’s start, Opel classics such as GT, Manta, Corsa A, Kadett or Kapitän are joined for the celebration of the historic milestone by today’s beloved models. Not only classics, but also modern Opel icons are in the spotlight this year, as 2019 brings a new Astra with hatchback and Sports Tourer variants, three powertrains for the sixth generation Corsa – electric, petrol and diesel – a capable Zafira Life and the new Insignia that has just been revealed at the beginning of December.

The new Corsa generation celebrates the joy of driving and promises that no matter how fun it is to talk about all its capabilities, it’s even more fun to drive it. With a nod to the model that started it all, the Corsa A, Opel traces the fun-to-drive DNA back to the first generation and puts today’s car into perspective. Additionally, the international AUTOBEST jury has voted Corsa and Corsa-e "Best Buy Car of Europe 2020."

#OpelGoesElectric and so does the new Corsa-e! Opel’s bestseller is set to make electric mobility not just more practical and convenient, but also more accessible. The Opel Grandland X joins the electrification offensive and offers Opel’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), also as all-wheel drive. The comprehensive electrification programme means that as early as 2021 Opel will offer a total of eight electrified vehicles in important volume segments and electrify the entire product portfolio by 2024. The Corsa-e Rally, currently under development for the 2020/21 ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, is the first battery-electric rally car.

The best seat might seem to be behind the wheel of a rally car, but for other objectives the new Zafira Life has one for each of the nine people it can transport. The communication around the concept shows different characters no longer able to give up “the best seat” they got so used to in the Zafira Life, even outside the travel time.

Opel started a model offensive for light commercial vehicles as well as for passenger cars. LCV growth is one of Opel’s PACE! plan targets, so there’s no surprise that Combo, Vivaro and Movano all launched new versions this year, making Opel’s LCV portfolio the youngest on the market!

The video also teases Opel’s next big news: the new Insignia will make its public debut soon at the Brussels Motor Show.
