Rüsselsheim.  Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller, received the International Van of The Year award for the new Opel Vivaro-e. Johannes Reichel, from the magazine, LOGISTRA, handed over the trophy to Lohscheller on behalf of the international IVOTY jury at Opel’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim. On the same occasion, Andreas Marx, the head of Opel in Germany, accepted the German award.

“The new Opel Vivaro-e shows what a battery electric light commercial vehicle can do”, said Lohscheller at the trophy-handover, which took place under strict hygiene controls. “The Vivaro-e offers the same cargo capacity as any other model variant, but with zero emissions. The respected ‘International Van of The Year’ award provides confirmation. We are delighted with the award and we thank the expert jury for their vote.”

Opel offers the Vivaro-e in three lengths – 4.6 metres (S), 4.95 m (M) and 5.30 m (L) – and several body versions, including panel van, crew cab and platform cab. Depending on the model variant, the Vivaro-e features up to 6.6 cubic metres of cargo space and a payload of 1,200 kilogrammes.

Customers can choose between two sizes of lithium ion battery, depending on their needs: with 75kWh for up to 330km or, for those who have a less intensive daily use of their vehicle, with 50kWh and a range of up to 230 kilometres, both in the WLTP1 cycle. Regardless of battery-size, the Vivaro-e enables professionals to benefit from uncompromised door-to-door mobility well beyond the “last mile”.

A wide range of assistance systems and advanced technologies are available, including Head-Up Display, Lane Keep Assist, Drowsiness Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Emergency Braking Assist and a 180-degree panorama rear-view camera.

The new Vivaro-e continues Opel’s success in the IVOTY award. The Opel Combo Cargo claimed the title in 2019. The compact van, along with the next generation of the large Movano, will soon complete Opel’s portfolio of electrified light commercial vehicles.

[1] Range determined according to WLTP test procedure methodology (R (EC) No. 715/2007, R (EU) No. 2017/1151). The actual range can vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular on personal driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning and thermal preconditioning.
