From €32,580: New Opel Movano Now Available to Order in Germany

• Class-leading payloads and load-carrying capability
• Usability fully retained by electrified Movano-e

Rüsselsheim.  Opel is now taking orders for the new Movano with diesel engines as well as for the new Movano-e with battery-electric drive. List prices in Germany start at €32,580 for the Movano Cargo and €57,990 (€50,490 minus the Environmental Bonus) for the Movano-e Cargo (all prices RRP excluding VAT).

The new Opel Movano range is the most competitive offer the German brand has yet made in the heavy van sector of the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market. Opel’s new LCV provides class-leading figures for payload, cargo capacity and gross vehicle weights, combined with a wide range of body versions, lengths and heights.

In addition to electric propulsion, the diesel powertrains of the new Movano match the best on the market for high fuel efficiency and low CO₂ emissions. The power output of the 2.2-litre engines – which all comply with the strict Euro 6d emissions standard – range from 88 kW (120 hp) to 121 kW (165 hp). The high low-end torque extends from 310 Newton metres at 1,500 rpm to 370 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Driving the front wheels, all the engines are paired with six-speed manual transmissions.

The new Movano’s tough and robust character is reflected in the design, which at the same time visualises its dynamics and great efficiency. Compared with the previous model, total cost of ownership is considerably reduced. Over a four year period, costs are around 20 per cent lower for maintenance, repairs and tyres, and around 11 per cent lower for fuel.

“Heavy vans must enable customers to perform a wide range of tasks and at the same time offer low running costs. The new Opel Movano and Movano-e tick all the boxes and will also be drivers of significant growth for our brand”, says Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz.

No compromises: New Movano-e is real alternative to conventional vehicles

The new Opel Movano-e is the first battery electric vehicle from the German manufacturer in the heavy van market segment. The emissions-free e-LCV demands no compromises and thus represents a real alternative to conventionally powered vehicles. The electric propulsion system delivers 90 kW (122 hp) and 260 Nm of torque, with the maximum speed electronically controlled at 110 km/h. Depending on the model variant, customers can choose between 37 kWh and 70 kWh lithium ion batteries for ranges (depending on the driving profile and the prevailing conditions) of up to 116 or 247 kilometres respectively in the WLTP combined cycle¹.

Wide choice: Four lengths, three heights and 8.0 to 17 m³ of cargo volume

Based on the number one platform in the market segment, the new Movano offers excellent load-carrying capability as well as a wide range of bodies and cargo capacities. Panel van customers can choose from four lengths (L1: 4,963 millimetres; L2: 5,413 mm; L3: 5,998 mm; L4: 6,363 mm) and three heights (H1: 2,254 mm; H2: 2,522 mm; H3: 2,760 mm), with maximum load capacities of 8.0 to 17 cubic metres. The doors of the H3 variant are 2.03 metres tall – best in class. Together with the rear doors that open to 180 degrees (optionally extendable to 270 degrees), they make the new Movano especially easy to load.

The range of gross vehicle weights (GVW) is among the widest in this class, extending from 2.8 to 4.0 tons, while payloads reach a maximum of 1.8 tons. With interior lengths of 2,670 to 4,070 mm, sill heights as low as 503 mm, a width of 1,422 mm between the wheel arches and 1,870 mm between the panels, the load zone of Opel’s new heavy van represents the benchmark for its rivals.

The standard cab features a single row of three seats, while the second row of the optional crew cab has seating for an additional four passengers. In order to meet special demands, the new Movano is additionally offered as a chassis cab, a chassis crew cab and a floor cab with a single row of three seats. At a later date, Opel’s new LCV will also be available for a broad line-up of specialist conversions, such as tippers, drop-sides and campers.

In Germany, Opel initially offers the new Movano as the Cargo panel van with a choice of three gross vehicle weights (3.5 t, 3.5 t extended, 4.0 t), four lengths (L1-L4) and three heights (H1-H3), in two equipment levels (Selection and Edition).

The 3.5 t Movano Cargo Selection L1H1 is available from €32,580 (all prices RRP excl. VAT in Germany), powered by the 88 kW (120 hp) diesel engine (NEDC fuel consumption²: urban 6.2 l/100 km, extra-urban 6.2 l/100 km, combined 6.2 l/100 km, 163 g/km CO₂; Prices for the new Movano with extended 3.5 t GVW and 103 kW (140 hp) engine (NEDC fuel consumption2: urban 6.1 l/100 km, extra-urban 6.0 l/100 km, combined 6.1 l/100 km, 159 g/km CO₂) begin at €34,080.

For a starting price of €40,320, the new Movano L4 is also available with a 4.0 t GVW, powered by the 121 kW (165 hp) engine (NEDC fuel consumption²: urban 7.0 l/100 km, extra-urban 6.4 l/100 km, combined 6.7 l/100 km, 177 g/km CO₂).

Equipment and assistance systems: Comfort and safety

The new Opel Movano comes with comprehensive lists of equipment and high-tech driver assistance systems, much of them as standard. For example, there are deep pockets in the doors, a smartphone holder and a drinks container (cooled in combination with air conditioning) in the instrument panel. In the spacious cabin comfort is provided by a six-way adjustable seat with lumbar support for the driver and a bench seat for two passengers with rotating table. The seats feature safety head restraints for all passengers.

Depending on the model variant, driver assistance systems fitted as standard include Automatic Safety Brake, Lane Departure Warning, Hill Start Assist and cruise control with speed limiter, as well as the rear Park Pilot system for easier manoeuvring. Blind Spot Warning and a Rear View Camera are optionally available. The list of options includes automated climate control, a tow bar, electrically adjustable heated and folding exterior mirrors and an anti-theft device.

“OpelConnect”, the “myOpel” app and the “Free2Move Services” mobility brand offer special solutions for light commercial vehicles, including e-LCVs. The services are accessible via apps. The “Charge My Car” function from the “Free2Move Services” app enables access to charging points throughout Europe, including payment.

For professional fleet management, the “Opel Connect” telematics solution with “Free2Move Fleet Services” can track the geographic location of the vehicle, optimise routes, monitor maintenance and fuel consumption and offer tips for more economical driving.

The new Movano joins the Combo and the Vivaro as the newest member of Opel’s light commercial vehicle family. The brand’s entire LCV portfolio will feature a battery-electric model variant by the end of this year. Opel will offer an electrified version of all passenger car and LCV models by 2024. As of 2028, Opel will focus entirely on battery electric vehicles in Europe.
